Prior to the recent changes to Custom OIDs (r8738~r8741) we had been abusing the feature to create custom graphs containing multiple hosts. For example we had a graph of emails delivered that combined all of our email servers in one. Now with OID discovery added and manual association removed that graph goes from 20 hosts to 600 and is no longer very useful.
I think moving some of the previous functionality of Custom OIDs into it's own Custom Graph feature would be very useful and welcome feedback on the idea.
Thanks, Jesse DeFer Arizona State University
Hi Jesse
same here. We use Custom OIDs to create stacked graphs between several systems. We would be happy to have that done by our needs... (As before)
Thanks Basile

Hi Adam,
I am also using some custom OIDs and have just update to the recent version. The autodiscovery is a nice addition, however I don’t know how it is supposed to work manually.
Before the update I was able to select the devices in the custom OID screen, but now I can’t figure out where this is possible:

Hi Adam,
I am also using some custom OIDs and have just update to the recent version.
The autodiscovery is a nice addition, however I don’t know how it is supposed to work manually.
Before the update I was able to select the devices in the custom OID screen, but now I can’t figure out where this is possible:
Could you please give me some advice?
Regards,
Siegfried

Prior to the recent changes to Custom OIDs (r8738~r8741) we had been abusing the feature to create custom graphs containing multiple hosts. For example we had a graph of emails delivered that combined all of our email servers in one. Now with OID discovery added and manual association removed that graph goes from 20 hosts to 600 and is no longer very useful.
I think moving some of the previous functionality of Custom OIDs into it's own Custom Graph feature would be very useful and welcome feedback on the idea.

The exponential notation is because the graph is logarithmic which causes rrdtool to automatically change notation. It would be nice to specify if a graph is linear or log in Custom OIDS.
For those who don’t like exponential notation a workaround is to add the following to config.php. It works for me but I don’t think is a supported way to do it. $rrd_options = “ --units=si”;

Hi Adam,
I have just updated to 8838 and tested the Custom OID stuff. There seem to be some problems.
When I add a new Custom OID the description for the Autodiscover Checkbox is missing:
[cid:image001.png@01D32BD2.87AB18A0]
I have configured some OIDs already as you can see:
[cid:image002.png@01D32BD3.2F777C90]
If I click on one of them I should only see the associated devices/graphs but instead I see all that are configured: [cid:image003.png@01D32BD3.E37CB110]
This wasn’t the case before the update. If I click on the Line Graphs or the Stacked Graphs I only see the correct ones. So this problem only exists with the Overview.
I was actually hoping for the configuration option to disable the logarithmic graphs. When will you add this?
Regards, Siegfried

Hi Adam,
I am also using some custom OIDs and have just update to the recent version. The autodiscovery is a nice addition, however I don’t know how it is supposed to work manually.
Before the update I was able to select the devices in the custom OID screen, but now I can’t figure out where this is possible:
Could you please give me some advice?
Regards, Siegfried

For example we had a graph of emails delivered that combined all of our email servers in one. Now with OID discovery added and manual association removed that graph goes from 20 hosts to 600 and is no longer very useful.
I think moving some of the previous functionality of Custom OIDs into it's own Custom Graph feature would be very useful and welcome feedback on the idea.

If I click on the Line Graphs or the Stacked Graphs I only see the correct ones. So this problem only exists with the Overview. I was actually hoping for the configuration option to disable the logarithmic graphs. When will you add this?
