Dashboard based on Port Description ?
Hey Guys,
Is there a way to create a dashboard that will include all graphs of ports that match a certain description ? Dynamically that is :)
Cheers,
Pieter
You can create a port group based upon a rule that will dynamically add all the ports that match. Then you can display the group with different graphs. Not sure this is what you are looking for though.

Widgets are constrained by a fixed width and height. If you can envisage a way to present the information you want in a non-horrific way within these constraints, perhaps we can add it.
Adam.

Hey Adam,
I *suspect* that the group suggestion might be what I am after (I have lost access to the paid version of Obs - for now)
If the groups thing doesn’t work out, then I would have thought you can implement a new dashboard type (I can’t think of a way to do this while mixing in other “things”). This dashboard would have 3 settings:
* Number of cols * Height of Widget * Port Regex
Will that work ?
Cheers,
Pieter

Height is defined by the dashboard and sent to the widget when it's constructed.
But you've not actually suggested the important bit, which his what exactly the widget would contain, and how.
The widget needs to scale, too.
It's actually a pretty difficult problem, and why we don't have very many widgets.
Adam.

Ah - I would have defaulted to “Traffic for the last 24 hours” but I can see that some people would like to configure this - someone out there would perhaps like “traffic for last 6 hours” or errors or or or….all of this just adds to more settings that needs to be set per dashboard which I think doesn’t scale very well….or at least - makes it “hard to do”
I am focused on a single widget here and might be missing key details on “other widgets” which you understand a lot better :)
I can see that this is a bigger problem than what I considered.
Cheers,
Pieter
