Hello everybody!
What is best practice for using location in SNMP, some switches like TP-Link doesnt support special character like "dash, comma" What is best for using with GOOGLE map, for example "STREET, CITY, COUNTRY" or i must use only CITY?
Regards, Tomas

Hi,
I currently just use the sites postcode in the Location field
It may not be 100% accurate or correct but the google maps get it's pretty good and close :)

Simon

I've set the sysLocation to "Street, City" on the snmpd.conf and it's working. Have you tried that?

If openstreetmap/google maps can't resolve the address you're using, then it won't work via their API either.

For example, i have two switche with "Jindrisska, Prague, Czech Republic"
Observium in Device/location resolve one as UNKNOWN and second as CZECH REPUBLIC
I can try delete all sysLocation in device

Try using the google geolocation api :
$config['geocoding']['api'] = 'mapquest'; // Which GEO API use ('mapquest', 'google')
It's more reliable, but we can't use it as default because you can only use it with a google map.
Set all location to NULL in your database after you change the setting and it should re-locate them.

For getting around this, you might have luck using the location_map config option. We have been using that just to save on some typing.
What is best for using with GOOGLE map, for example "STREET, CITY, COUNTRY" or i must use only CITY?
