To get around the additional complexity complying with the EU regulations would require we've switched to a slightly more expensive, but more helpful payment provider which is now acting as a VAT agent on our behalf, usefully sidestepping all of the EU VAT issues.

They also have a much friendlier and much easier to use API, so I finally got around to properly automating the subscription system.

For the future to renew subscriptions, you'll need to create an account on the subscription management system and order via the button. At the moment it autogenerates usernames and passwords, but in future I'll make those customisable.
