I'm interested in getting the subscription, or Pro, edition of Observium. I've been asked to see if we can get an eval so we can determine if the enhancements either improve compatibility with Brocade VDXes, and/or if the additional features we would gain are of value to us.
We are also a registered nonprofit in the US if that qualifies us for free access to the subscription edition.

As the app is PHP, no. There's no ability to give you an onsite "preview" or "demo" beyond what the CE does already. You're getting full source access.

OK, thanks. How about the nonprofit question? The web site says registered charities get free access to the subscription edition (something like that).

I'm simply asking a question about something posted on your web site, so I think the question is relevant. I'll quote here:
"Observium Professional Edition subscriptions are available free of charge to registered charities and Open Source projects."
Nothing there about how poor or rich the organization must be, nor how to make that determination.

Our internal position is that edu doesn't count. We specifically don't use the "non-profit" terminology, as that includes a lot of stuff which legitimately does not deserve free stuff.
