Hi all,
Not sure if it was asked before, but in current version of Observium 0.16.1.7504 in global settings is option called "Enable autodiscovery via Vmware". How does it works? As I very like observium, documentation looks as totally out of date and not usable.
Thanks
Tibor

Hi Tibor,
How the VM discovery (libvirt, vmware, proxmox) works is:
- Observium retrieves a list of virtual machines configured on the host being discovered/polled. Note that this does not work on all vmware versions - if you see a VM tab on your device you're good. - In case a new VM is found (=one that was not found on that host previously), an attempt to add the vm via its name is kicked off, if it is deemed a valid hostname.
As with all device autodiscovery, this depends on the ip_nets setting, and on a bunch of exclusion configuration fields that make Observium ignore certain hostnames.
