Rancid integration - config tabs won't show up
Hi @ll
First, I want to give you guys from Observium a big thumb up because having a such easy webapp, so easily maintainable, so powerful and all without marketing layers and super complicated licensing makes you kind of unique on the market.
Now to the issue, I'm trying to integrate my rancid files into the latest stable version of Observium (did it last week following official observium tutorial).
Now I have multiple entries in the config.php (because of multiple router.db files/directories in rancid) :
$config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/ juniper1/configs/"; $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/ juniper2/configs/"; $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/ juniper3/configs/"; $config['rancid_ignorecomments'] = 0;
All the /var/lib/rancid/ directory is chowned by rancid:rancid.
www-data is in rancid group.
I restarted apache2.
I cleared the cache from browser.
I checked the config in the observium web-interface and it's correctly read by the server (I see the lines above).
I checked the hostnames, and the ones I am backing up with rancid are matching the ones registered in the observium. But there are some observium devices I am not backing up yet. (I guess it's not an issue right?).
Can anybody help me out with this?
Thanks a lot
Kind regards,

Well I hoped this would happen: as soon as I wrote I discovered the issue. Group had no read permissions on /var/lib/rancid itself (underlying structure was fine). Kind of a newbie mistake, sorry for having written too early.
Have a nice day.
cheers

Nice, selfhelp :)
P.S. But just I see extra space in your $config['rancid_configs'] dir names.

Yes, the foreveralone kind of help.
Thanks for the note, but I don’t use these anyway, was just for example in the observium mailing list. Weird paranoia reasons.

Please, for the love of all that is good in the world, DO NOT FAKE EXAMPLES ON A MAILING LIST.
95% of the time, you'll have a typo in your REAL config which you haven't faked in your fake config.
