Hi,
I have tried some times ago to change the MySQL server into MariaDB on my Observium server (community), but it seems that is breaking some parts of Observium and doesn't seems to update things.
Anybody here have a good experience about moving MySQL to MariaDB with observium ?
Regards, Xavier

Hi Xavier,
I don't think we do anything special. Possibly mariadb has strict mode enforced by default? We require this to be off. I don't foresee any other issues.
It'll only become "officially supported" either when we have a million more unit tests we can run or until debian/ubuntu makes it a full mysql replacement I think.

Well,
I will have a try and make a jira if there is some issues or quick fix to make this working :)
Kind regards,

I've done a number EL6 to EL7 upgrades recently, for systems running Observium, these meant the mysql packages were upgraded to mariadb packages.
There's been no issues with Observium that I've noticed...

I know it's not exactly MariaDB, but our Observium install is running on 5.6.20-68.0-56-log Percona XtraDB Cluster and don't see any issues either.
