Alerts Not Sending or False Positives Received

Hello, I've configured config.php for device down alerts.
However, they're not being sent when a devices is down or they're sent out when a device is not down.
Could someone confirm if my parameters are correct and/or any other files that needs to be configured to enable this critical functionality?

Thank you!!

Hi Jacob,
Please also post your alert checker for "device down".
PS: You know you could just.... paste.... text in an email instead of a screenshot of text in an email. If you want to go that route we will require word document containing a scan of a printed copy of a photo of your monitor.

Y'know, I quite like that the image retains the formatting and colourisation. Makes it easier to read.
It'd be nice if you could copy/paste console colours and formatting into an email. That would be pretty useful. A lot of errors you can spot way easier with the colours.
Why have you set a status type? And is that checker an "or" or an "and" checker? (I should add that to that table in the UI, probably)

Sorry, I'm a visual learner. I set it originally to troubleshoot individual alerts and gradually add as I encountered what needed to be monitored.
It should be an "and" checker, but doesn't necessarily have to be. I have another alert checker for ping.
Honestly, I'm most concerned with just receiving notifications at this point. As I become more familiar with how Observium functions, I can delve into other features.
Thanks for the response!

I don't see much point in having two checkers, really. I'd just have one for when a device is up/down. Knowing if it was SNMP or PING is kinda useless unless you're troubleshooting.
You'll also not have to think about the and/or logic.

Hi Adam
I currently have 2 checkers
1 for when ping goes down 1 for when snmp goes down
I have this setup for a reason because it monitors our ADSL routers…
sometimes the routers suddenly stop replying to the SNMP BUT the pings are still alive and the router is still online
so if a site stop replying to SNMP I’m not bothered, BUT if i site stops replying by PING then I am bothered
however I haven’t quite worked out the ping alert check yet because the emails that get sent to me when pings come back up are incorrect?
i get a Alert down metric of
device_status_type = ping , device_status = 0
but when I get a recovery metric of
device_status_type = , device_status = 1
i can forward some sample emails I get if you want to have a look at it,
also do you have an example of the alert check we should be using incase I have it setup wrong ?

No, that's correct. If the device is up, there is no down status reason to report, so it's blank.
device_status_type should be device_status_reason

You have two underscores in default_only.
Also, you need to enable the alerter in in poller wrapper, that you ahve commented out, and you need to be running the poller wrapper (rather than poller.php directly) in cron.
