Hello, I tried several times to add the new Cisco CMTS CBR8, this units has 2000 to 4000 services depending on the line cards, but it always brings Observium to crash. Once the systems hangs completely the other time the Database crashed. I tried it on the pro version and also an the CE version.
Is there a possibility to avoid the system crash, adding such a device.

At the moment I have no logs for the details, but here is my procedure.
I’m adding the unit over cli -> ok Starting the discovery of this unit - > after ~ 20 min ok Starting the polling of this unit -> it takes extremely long (up to 2 hours) to achieve the polling, it is not possible to access the webpage with the ports due to an sql error indicated on the webpage.
We encounter already on smaller units with 400 ports problems to access the port page, the webpage script crashes, maybe it is related. If it doesn’t give you an idea about the problem what log files you will need?

It sounds like you have a very low memory limit for PHP under apache.
If your device is taking 2 hours to poll, you simply can't poll it, at least not with the ports module enabled. There's no reasonable way to collect data for 3,000 subscriber ports via SNMP. :D
If you want this device included for non-ports statistics, you can disable the ports module on this device's configuration in the web UI.
You also probably need to deal with the PHP memory limits. This is documented in our FAQ.
