RFE - Number of prefixes advertised / received per BGP sessions

On your eBGP page, at the right side, if you choose the Unicast drop-down menu, you have the option to display a graph of received and advertised prefixes per session. Sorry I can’t attach an image right now.

Dear Observium developpers,
I would like to submit a request for enhancement :
We actually have the ability to monitor Uptime / Updates per BGP sessions, but not the number of advertised / received prefixes.
Would you consider useful ? If so, would you consider develop it ?
Thank you for considering this request.
Best regards.

It works for both, but only if your device supplies the data.

Dear Ron,
You are right, never noticed the option.
But it doesn’t seem to be working for me. When I click on it, I keep seeing updates but not prefixes. Running latest stable : 17.3.8438.
Also, I’m seeing only an option called “IPv4 unicast prefixes” but not for IPv6. My guess is that it does work for both ?
Best regards.

Hi Youssef,
you run (and attached) incorrect debug output. Module named not just 'bgp", but 'bgp-peers'. Correct debug for you should be:
./discovery.php -d -m bgp-peers -h <device>

Seriously !?! You have got to be kidding me :
"Analysis : 4/20 Checked the MIB guides for NI as far as 6.1.00 and "bgp4V2PrefixInPrefixes" is not supported.
Actions : 4/20 Informed customer this would need to be an RFE to request new OIDs to be included in Brocade MIB".
I'll try to pressure them to work around the combursom RFE process and get back to you.
Y.

Hi Youssef,
you run (and attached) incorrect debug output. Module named not just 'bgp", but 'bgp-peers'. Correct debug for you should be:
./discovery.php -d -m bgp-peers -h <device>

Doesn’t seem to be working for NetIron based devices (MLXe / CER-RT).
Please find attached traces for BGP module generated discovery script in debug mode againt a CER-RT and an MLXe device, both running code versin 57e. Could you please take a look ?
Thank you.

It works for both, but only if your device supplies the data.

Dear Ron, You are right, never noticed the option. But it doesn’t seem to be working for me. When I click on it, I keep seeing updates but not prefixes. Running latest stable : 17.3.8438. Dear all,
We tried as hard as we could with L2 TAC engineer to escalate this and bypass RFE process. In the end, it didn’t work :
“Currently SNMP support is not available for the SNMP table “bgp4V2PrefixGaugesTable”, hence OID(bgp4V2PrefixInPrefixes) is throwing error.
An RFE needs to be raised so that engineering can look at the feasibility of providing this.”
As soon as I have an RFE ID for this, I will share with you in case you are interested in tracking this.
Best regards.

Y.
