As Adam says, this is very dependant on devices updating their counters
quickly enough. On some of our older/larger gear (read: 6509's full of
48-port line cards), we're seeing the counters only being updated every 15
seconds or so, which makes realtime graphing very difficult. We usually
end up setting the interval to 15 or 30 seconds (We're still running a
pre-fork observium codebase which has been heavily modified) to get a
smooth graph.
