I notice my Brocade routers seem to work fine in Observium. What about VDX switches? Does anyone know if Observium can work with these?
Currently evaluating switches for our network, and would like to know if this would be a possible issue...
Thanks
Hi Aaron,
It seems that we don't support anything other than the industry-standard MIBs on Brocade Network OS devices (VDX runs NOS).
I'm not sure how difficult it would be to add, I have no experience with anything Brocade that wasn't Foundry first.
You could try to find some documentation, or information from Brocade about the structure of their memory/CPU/etc reporting in SNMP.
Adam.

Thanks, I'll see what I can find out from the sales engineer we're working with.

Hi, We have VDXs in Observium and lots of stuff works but a few things are not quite right.
The one that bugs us the most is that for whatever reason the VDX stores port descriptions in "ifDescr" instead of "ifAlias" like everything else does. The upshot of this is that you do not get port names/aliases in Observium.
All the standard port counters seem to work ok. CPU usage looks fine. Memory usage in MB collects ok but is always graphed as 100%. The current usage bar looks ok. Fan speeds work for 2 fans but not power supply fans. Temperatures seem ok. Inventory looks ok.
Cheers, Nathan
