Hello,
I am pretty new to Observium and really love it. Right now I am adding some Custom OIDs from our devices.
We are using these devices to log the power usage of our housing customers: http://www.hw-group.com/products/HWg-PWR/hwg-pwr25_M-bus_gateway_en.html There is a small problem with the reported power usage. The device reports the values a hundred times higher than they are supposed to be, e.g. 100 kWh when in fact it should be 1 kWh.
Is there a way I can divide the polled values before they are stored? If not could you please add such a feature? I was able to do this in WhatsUp Gold, but I want to get rid of it :)
Thanks in advance.
Regards, Siegfried
Using customoid is not the correct way to solve your problem.
The correct way is to add support for the tables you're polling to observium as sensors.
Custom oid is intended as an absolute last option when the thing you're monitoring doesn't fit into any of our other structures.
Adam.

Hello Adam,
thank you for your quick reply.
I have already tried to add support for some of our devices. But I was only successful with devices supporting Standard-MIBs like HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. I just made sure that Observium identifies them by the sysObjectID or description. I could contribute the additions I made to os.inc.php if you are interested.
But beyond that I don’t think I can handle this by myself. Could you please add support for these devices? Enclosed I am sending you the MIB file of the device. I could possibly arrange remote access if necessary.
Thanks in advance. Regards, Siegfried
