I went ahead and added another plugin to the /usr/lib/nagios/plugins directory where all the other working plugins are. When I go to add a probe it doesn't show up in the drop down box. Is there something that has to be ran to look for new plugins? Permissions/use/group are the same as the other plugins that work.

Yeah, there needs to be a definition array telling Observium how the plugin works.
You can probably find some examples in includes/definitions/probes*
