I'm looking to see if the ability exists to create a group with only a specific set of graphs based on an App. Then be able to assign that group to a user to view

Hi Ron,
We don't currently have per-user permissions for applications, but it's probably not /that/ difficult to add.
Adam.

I think Ron is talking about the ability to have groups of servers running the same app (bind etc) and presenting all of those same apps on the one page.
Like the old apps used to do (before you moved them onto the device graphs tab).
If so, I second bringing that ability back (even if optional via config flag)

Somebody did... we used to have them back before the great fork of 2013. Once we eventually got onto the PE, we lost them. :(
Now our apps are only visible per-host. I notice that the demo site still has them though (using different apps).
We used to be able to dashboard all of our authoritative nameservers and our proxy traffic (with the proxySG modules), but can't anymore.

I'm not sure what you mean, the apps system has been long mostly abandoned. I'm not sure why you wouldn't have the global apps menu oO
can you see the page /apps/ ?

Adam, The Apps dropdown provides a good example but I was thinking more along the lines of adding group permissions. That way you could assign a user to a group and that's all they could see. The idea came from looking at the group cpu screenshot from the website and trying to create something similar based on an App. It would be really helpful to be able to create a group based on the traditional options but refine it to just show the specific application graphs we want. It appears that snmp entities are the matching options only for graphs in groups unless I'm missing something.
I hope that explains it a little better.

At the moment apps aren't entities, but it wouldn't be too difficult to extend the entities system to them.
I don't think including only a subset of graphs from an application would be quite so easy though. Is there any reason you'd want to limit the graphs, but still show the application?

Adam, Sorry for the confusion.
The goal was to be able to have specific graphs (apps, or interfaces, etc) to be displayed on a screen in our NOC. It was so we could display a specific set of graphs on display(1) and another specific set of graphs on display (2) etc. They were informational only displays in our NOC. Ideally having a page not requiring a login specific to the display would be optimal as we wouldn't need to keep the user logged in.
I didn't see a way to do it without having a user that logged in so I was looking at the user rights and didn't see groups or apps as an entity that I could assign to a user, that's why I asked.

Hi,
The best option for NOC monitoring screens is ruby dashing
http://dashingdemo.herokuapp.com/sample
There are some thirdparty widgets available for snmp, one which I put together for SNMP interface percentage
