esx 5 server memory not showing
I have several ESX 5.0 servers that are successfully polling and returning data from CPU/Storage/VMs, however the system memory is not getting polled/graphed.
This is running the discovery process with debugging:
Memory : DEBUG: SNMP Auth options = -v2c -c alpha /usr/bin/snmpbulkwalk -v2c -c alpha -OQUs -m NETSWITCH-MIB -M /opt/observium/mibs/rfc:/opt/observium/mibs/net-snmp:/opt/observium/mibs/hp udp:flux:161 hpLocal hpLocalMem = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID
DEBUG: SNMP Auth options = -v2c -c alpha /usr/bin/snmpbulkwalk -v2c -c alpha -OQUs -m NETSWITCH-MIB -M /opt/observium/mibs/rfc:/opt/observium/mibs/net-snmp:/opt/observium/mibs/hp udp:flux:161 hpGlobal hpGlobalMem = No Such Instance currently exists at this OID
Interesting how we run HP memory pool discovery on a vmware box?
Either way, ESX(i) doesn't do very much SNMP...

So how does one monitor it with Observium? My ESXi boxes don't respond to SNMP at all, and i could never find any option to enable it...

We don't have a CIM poller; unlikely that we will have this soon unless sponsored - providing there are *nix tools to do the querying.
Tom
You have to enable it with the CLI since it isn't setup by default: http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vsphere.moni...
