Just wondering what the best way is to set the default sensor limits? For example, I would like to set the battery temperature sensor max to 50C for all of our UPS units instead of the current default of 91.36C which would basically mean that the ups has melted into the floor.
We would like to know this too! :)
It's a difficult problem to solve. At the moment we set thresholds as the initial value -/+ a percentage for cases where the device itself doesn't give us a threshold.
Alternative methods which make sense for a large percentage of users might be considered!

I like the idea of setting the threshold based on the initial value if the device doesn't report it as it gives a good starting point. But for those times where that is not acceptable, perhaps a simple "update_device.php" script that could change the threshold for a set of devices based on the same metric condition and device association search used for alert checkers?

Devices don't have thresholds, individual sensors do.
Bearing in mind that a device might have a sensor for a CPU, for an optic, for ambient temperature, etc.
Working out how to do such a thing in a manner which is useful to more than 2 people more than once is the hard part.
