I noticed some strange behavior with alerts after doing a recent update. I have the Professional subscription.
I looked in the update-errors.log and saw many errors. Have not had any issues in many years so was surprised I mucked up the upgrade.
Looking for some direction on solving these issues. I'm comfortable using mysql and can make changes.
I attached the log. Nothing concerning in the other

Are you running a new enough MySQL/mariadb?
You seem to be missing a collation.
Adam.

This seems to be the problem, it's already fixed (it was fixed before you ran this).

This is mariadb vs mysql nonsense.
Is there any reason your install tried to insert a new database on the 9th? oO
It'll probably install correctly if you remove the database and run the current version of the code, but if you previously had a database, it seems to be gone.

Thanks for the quick response. That's how this started, I inadvertently had the original DB dumped by installing mysql ( did a cut 'n paste with out checking first, bad sysadmin ). I will dump and install a new db. I want to follow up with the replies from Mike.
Thanks for your help, Brian
Hello,
this is was a first time install?
Not sure, you said "update", but I see "Initial schema install" at 2026/10/09 20:25
Show me your environment (versions) for Observium: ./discovery.php -VV

Ahh,
From your update-errors.log, the update ran against an empty database.
It tried to install the initial schema and then replayed all updates on top of it, which explains the errors you see.
We have made a lot of changes across many Observium files recently.
If you ever edited any Observium files locally, for example includes/defaults.inc.php,
the update may have conflicted with those edits. That could have dropped your local database settings and other options.
This is only an assumption for now.
Could you please send us the output of:
svn status /opt/observium
Thanks.

If you see my comments to Adam, I hosed the DB and tried to recover it. I included the output of the 2 commands.
The only customization I've done was to include support for chrony.
Let me know if there any issues with the currently installed instance.
