Looking after a reason why I got soooooo long time to see some firewall I saw that despite the

// Syslog stuff $config['enable_syslog'] = 1; $config['syslog_age'] = "1 month";

On configuration, the old syslog informations are not deleted.

I created a small php script to clean that (using crontab), do you like to have this contrib ?

(It is somewhat easy, but if you don't have time to make that, then, I will be pleased to create a jira with this file).
