I keep getting the same alerts on mail now.
The alerts have never gone OK but have stayed in Error mode.
I run the alerter.php via crontab.

Well, it does say 'processor_usage=100', which is above 85, so based on the information you gave the alerter is correct and there is an error.
Try the 'Click here to download pictures' thingy at the top of your message. It will actually show the CPU graph in the message, which might give useful information. If you follow up to this thread, including the complete error message including that graph will be a big help :)

Please make sure these are the /same/ entities. None of the dates match, the duration on the alert doesn't match the GUI screenshot.
