Afternoon All,
We recently purchased Observium after a recommendation from our Network Engineer, what Netflow software would you recommend to use alongside Observium? If you know any Open Source ones, that'd be awesome. I came across Nfsen but it's a tad too old. Also I have Observium talking to 6 out of 8 of my routers and SNMP is turned on on all of them. If you require any info please let me know. There are 7 Cisco x 1 Juniper routers and the affected routers are Cisco.

Hi,
Take a look at Verizon's vflow,
https://github.com/VerizonDigital/vflow
nfsen kinda integrates with Observium; but doesn't add much value. The graphs are within Observium indicate trends only. You would have to use nfsen's GUI to get real value by searching/drilling down to see what you really want to know.
You'll be better off with vflow, or something more like it, in 2018.

Hi Oludayo,
As you mention NfSen is quite old now and the hints for integration with Observium are deprecated.
There are some great open source Netflow tools but consider ntop (ng), which has come a long way:
https://www.ntop.org/products/traffic-analysis/ntop/ (limited capacity demo version is available)
Whilst Netflow is OT for this list, I'm also interested to hear other suggestions if there is a possibility for some rudimentary integration with Observium.
Regards
Darren

Have you seen ELK(Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) used for flow collecting? I did a write up about using it last year. https://developer.wordpress.com/2016/02/08/open-source-netflow-with-elastic-...
