Send email alerts only for some checkers, not all of them
Hello,
First of all, congratulations for your great product :) I have been searching this the forum but I can't find an answer for this :( We are currently using Observium Pro v18.10.9500. I'm trying to configure emailing so that I would like to be notified on some alerts generated by some of the alert checkers but not all of them, but I'm not able to do it :( Currently I'm receiving email alerts from all of my checkers. This is my current "config.php":
// Set up a default alerter (email to a single address) // $config['email']['default'] = ""; // $config['email']['default_only'] = TRUE; $config['email']['from'] = "< I omit this part, this is our current email, this is working >"; $config['email']['smtp_host'] = "< I omit, our SMTP email server >"; $config['email']['backend'] = "smtp"; // Mail backend. Allowed: "mail" (PHP's built-in), "sendmail", "smtp". $config['email']['smtp_timeout'] = 30;
We have only one contact with our destination email address and we have associated only 4 of 7 defined alert checkers, but we are currently receiving email notifications from all of them.

Hi,
The default without anything configured is to email alerts to the device's sysContact.0. This is probably what's happening.
I've added a new alert transport called devnull in r9573 which will pretend it sent something, but won't.
If you add this to the alert entry, it'll suppress the defaults.

Hi Adam,
Thanks for your answer. I upgraded from r9500…and I was playing with new dashboard ☺ Let me know if I did right: I have configured a new contact with transport “devnull” and associated that contact with alert checkers that I don’t want an email alert to be sent. Did I do it right? In “config.php”, I have left [email][defalt] and [email][default_only] commented, as I show in my first post.

Yeah. If that new contact is the only one associated with an alert, it'll "eat" the alerts never to be seen again.
I could potentially add an option to make it log to a file or something at some point too. I'm not sure why we didn't have a dummy transport before :)
