I’m trying to get RSS working. php-mcrypt is installed and under “My Settings” it says my RSS/Atom key was created. I can’t find any documentation anywhere that explains anything further.

If RSS/Atom key was created, than it means RSS is already working. :)
You can subscribe to feed through your browser, for example in FF: Bookmarks -> Subscribe to This page. But in Chrome you should use any RSS reader/button extension. I don't know why google removed the native links for subscribe to feeds..
