Hi folks, wonderful product :):)
I was just wondering if the L2tp section is in dev or is completed. I can't get it to work and as far as I have troubleshooted I can see that there are not any ports being picked up when my lns is scanned for this functionality to work.
I haven't configured anything specific, it appears as you just snmp scan the device and it should pick the session tracking up for the l2tp tab. I can see everything else is working, am I missing something> Cheers,
OJ

We don't actually do anything special for L2TP at all.
The L2TP "section" just puts together interfaces labelled with "L2TP:" in the description.

Cool, thanks I'm not crazy.
We would love to use the billing feature to generate data bills for dsl customers, any chance of this going on the road map? While I'm on the point of future, exporting graphs for our noc via the api has been really really helpful, I suggest including this in the api functionality

This is far better done by RADIUS.

The API is somewhat abandoned at the moment. The original developer has vanished and very few people use it.
If we were to extend it, it would likely be a wholesale replacement and rewrite, which we don't really have the ability to do at the moment.

No problems, I understand where you are coming from. Would you have any issues if we contributed some code for the api in its current state? I don't think there is anything terribly wrong with the way the api operates, and we have found it quite useful.

Before I forget,
Certainly radius is a better idea for accounting. I was more referring to a situation with radius working with mysql with observium being able to graph and bill based on the data stored in radacct table. This somewhat centralizes the billing process. If you use 'aaa accounting update periodic 10' for example in theory you could graph it and use the mysql output to generate traffic bills. The figures would be accurate and the graphs would be 10 min averages but possible.
Cheers,
OJ
