When I include the rancid integration...where should "anything" show up? Is there a chart, graph, or something, or is it the email updates?

If everything is configured properly, there will be an additional tab in the device view.
Kind regards,

Hi Julian,
I also don't seem to get the tab for RANCID.
Can you show us the config that you have to get the rancid integration working?
If there were errors that we could use where would they be logged?
Kind Regards RC

Hi All,
I figured is out. If anyone else wants to know.
You need to add the apache or httpd service user to the rancid group so it can read the files.

Even though it's all running on the same box for me, I have to use Viewvc to see my rancid stuff. It would be great if there was a similar type of viewer to plug into Observium. I think the issue is that the FQDN's have to match all around, and in rancid, I only have devices listed by IP, so nothing would show.

I just set Rancid up last week and edited config.php. Configurations are correctly shown.
Couple of things to check: - Are the names of you devices the same? - Did you set "$config['rancid_configs'][]" correctly in config.php?

If everything is configured properly, there will be an additional tab in the device view.
Kind regards,

Hi I did manage to get his working. The names where correct but the permissions were not. I needed to add the web services user into the group that could read the rancid directory. I found the solution in an archived message thread.

I just set Rancid up last week and edited config.php. Configurations are correctly shown.
Couple of things to check:
- Are the names of you devices the same?
- Did you set "$config['rancid_configs'][]" correctly in config.php?

Was this solved?

Hi Julian,
I also don't seem to get the tab for RANCID.
Can you show us the config that you have to get the rancid integration working?
If there were errors that we could use where would they be logged?
Kind Regards RC
