In the root folder of you Observium installation is a script called "rename_device.php". This worked for me.

Syntax: # php rename_device.php Observium 19.2.9712 Rename Device

USAGE: rename_device.php <old hostname> <new hostname>

OPTIONS: -p Skip icmp echo checks, device renamed only by SNMP checks

DEBUGGING OPTIONS: -d Enable debugging output. -dd More verbose debugging output.

Is there a way to change the name of a device without having to remove and re-add?

E.G. Workstation01 Workstation02.contoso.com

Change workstation01 to workstation01.contoso.com
