How many poller processes are running? Likely you need a faster server :)

Oh dear lord, kill all of poller.php and poller-wrapper.py.
It seems like your system may not be fast enough :)

Its only safe to kill it once. If you kill it frequently, your devices won't poll.
It seems like you've ended up running 500 poller instances, which is not idea.
Rebooting the box might be a cleaner fix.

Which version are you running? I think in the Pro edition the poller-wrapper will check for running instances which will prevent problems like this... If you run Pro you should update.

No, not your servers syslog.
I mean, do you put syslog into Observium?
In any event, it seems like your system may no longer be fast enough.
It's difficult to say exactly without more investigation, though.

It's not strange at all. New versions have new features which increase load.
Your system is not fast enough. Disable some modules, remove some devices or make the system faster.
