Possibility too acknowledge items in Overview
Hi All
We see alot of jabber on the Overview page that is not really necessary and makes it hard too differ important information from trivial information.
We would like too be able too Acknowledge items in the Overview so that it is not spammed with ports that are down for known reasons. Perhaps you could comment on the Ack and/or mark with a category (maintenance, power outage etc etc).
Additionally I think that keywords in descriptions could generate different results in the overview (like ports are aggregated but for states). So that ports that are marked for installation and waiting for link should be hidden when down and shown green when up so that the provisioning team notices this and can take action.
I see somewhere you can define a regexp that will look at the interface description and when true would inverse the up/down relationship.
Also, bug, when the uptime counter loops on IOS devices they are marked as reloaded.
You are confusing Observium with nagios.
Adam.
Dear Adam
I just read the goals of observium and realized that this is outside of the them.
But, could we perhaps get a way too control the colour and order of the items that appear in Overview. Such as regexp on the item description. Also the "blocks" are often too small for the text in them. Could we control the format and or what is displayed in some manner?

Mattias,
The front overview page is just a piece of custom PHP which you can find in html/pages/front. You can set which one to use in the configuration, some examples are included in that directory.
Feel free to create your own custom one, starting from one of these, or a mix, or even from scratch - you can put anything you want on the front page.
You could ignore certain ports through the sql query or through the code, make boxes bigger or smaller or whatnot...
At some point we will(ahem, yes, I said that quite a while back) have a sort of event system where you can indeed ack events, but this is not for the very near future.
