Hi all, I was looking on the internet for a way to monitor our flexlm licenses, and observium seem that is having the ability to do it.
How can I enable it? Thank you!
I don't know what flexlm is, but I do know we don't monitor it.
Adam.

Netscalers use FlexLM licensing, but it’s not in observium.
What are you trying to achieve by monitoring licenses? When they expire or something? I don’t see a real use for it in Observium.

Thank you for your answer, looking on the internet I found this, that is what got me started, also cacti supports it, so I thought observium has it already: http://fisheye.observium.org/browse/Observium/checkers/check_flexlm?r1=2&...
Our use case for the licenses would be that we have a pool of network licenses, for some 12 different products, we would like to have a better overview of how are they used in time, also when they expire, how many are available, etc, there are many things we want to see in the licenses.
Best!

Hi,
The file you found is an old nagios plugin, whch we do not support (anymore). Graphing such a thing is a perfect fit for an app monitor in the Unix agent, but this is not currently implemented; I do believe I have a flexlm-based license server somewhere, but I don't see myself writing an app for myself for that as it's not really very important to me... I think it contains exactly 1 license for 1 product ;-)
(As always, custom development is an option)

Thanks a lot, I would try something myself, but I am not very familiar with the inner parts of observium, maybe if it used to work, you can find time to hack something together. Would be an useful addition for more people I guess.
Best regards, Keep up the good work, observium is a very good program.
