Re: [Observium] HSRP event tracking

I don't believe there is an HSRP tracker. It's definitely not in the sensor entity type. Sensors are things like current, dBm, fan speed, power, state, temperature, voltage, etc. There's a list of known metrics and attributes here:
http://www.observium.org/wiki/Alerting_Metrics_and_Attributes
Examples of values can be found in your MySQL database.

I noticed that when an HSRP interface is in active mode, the gateway IP shows up on that interface and not in the standby one, which shows only its own IP. Maybe, detecting where the GW shows up could be used for triggering hsrp events?

I suppose, that instead of writing an Alert Checker for one function (HSRP in this case) efforts can be done in writing a generic alert checker for SYSLOG :) Lot's of alerts in Cisco world can be done with SYSLOG: - IP SLA Tracks; - VPN alerts; - Overrun of the HW TCAM; - Routing protocol flaps; - STP changes; - FHRP (like in this case); - Module up/down events; and many others.
Example of SYSLOG for HSRP is: "HSRP-5-STATECHANGE : GigabitEthernet0/0 Grp 1 state Active -> Speak", it's easy to build an alert from this.
