I attempted the rancid integration from the configuration options. I had a separate rancid configuration that I attempted to modify following the guide that seems to have broken my rancid.
Please help. Either I need a way to reverse the effect of this command: php /opt/observium/scripts/generate-rancid.php > /var/lib/rancid/networking/router.db
or fix rancid's ability to read the etc/hosts file
I now keep getting this in /tmp:

I think my rancid can't read the /etc/hosts or something, because testing clogin results like this: rancid@rancid:/var/lib/rancid/logs$ /usr/lib/rancid/bin/clogin 192.168.80.1 192.168.80.1 spawn telnet 192.168.80.1 Trying 192.168.80.1... Connected to 192.168.80.1. Escape character is '^]'.

It overwrote your old hosts file.
Following installation instruction on an existing install was... Inadvisable :)
It seems its trying to use a username and password which doesn't exist on your switches.
What is in the .clogin file?

You probably just want to replace those with *, assuming the passwords are all the same.
Otherwise replace all of the IPs with the hostnames observium knows.

The only problem you've shown so far is that hostnames didn't match the IPs in your .clogin file.
It's been many years since I used RANCID.

RANCID isn't running at this point. I keep getting the lockfile in /tmp.
What I am attempting to do is not use the php script and I've commented out the cron. Then I've replaced the original router.db file that I had. Not sure if that will work.

Hmm, I am getting an odd issue on the rancid running again.
I see this still in my rancid, when I look at the /var/lib/rancid/observium/router.db, I have the below. However, I don't see device like the 10.1.3.2 in the configs. So there is still some talking between observium and rancid. I need to undo that. [image: Inline image 1]
