Professional SVN updates failing

I have two separate instances of Observium Professional running at separate organizations and both have seen attempts to update using SVN fail over the last few days.
user@host:/home/user# cd /opt/observium user@host:/opt/observium# svn update Updating '.': Authentication realm: http://svn.observium.org:80 Observium Professional Repository Password for 'root': ^Csvn: E200015: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/branches/stable' svn: E200015: The operation was interrupted user@host:/opt/observium#
I do not believe either subscription has lapsed (the date for each is later in the year IIRC).
Any ideas what is going on?

It looks like you tried to update SVN with username "root" which is probably not your username and then you pressed Ctrl+C?

Hi Markus,
That's what I've been using since the beginning. No changes there.

Markus,
As a follow-up, that does look wrong. The fact that it started on two separate hosts from separate organizations is puzzling. It seems my auth credentials are not being read (or are missing). Looking into that.
Thanks,

I had this happen last week too on a ubuntu 14lts system. I ended up deleting my creds in the .subversion folder, confirming that subversion was set to save creds, and doing a svn switch to stable (from rolling) using the --username and --password options in the svn command. The creds were saved and it seemed to work.

You just needed to retype your username and password, nothing complicated :)

Hi Stephen
Had the same issue a few days ago. Try to do a svn update by hand and just enter a empty password, it will the ask for username and password again and from there on it worked for me.

Hi,
I had this issue the other day
And it appears after exactly 365 days the SVN details are lost/wiped !
You can get ur svn details from http://observium.org/subs/ http://observium.org/subs/
Do an svn up and when asked for password for root, simple press ENTER and it will then ask for another username and password instead, save details and away it goes :)
Regards
Simon

Or type your real root password first so that it sends it to us and we can log it in a big file and sell it to russians.

We had the same thing happen to us. My guess is that our SVN creds were reset from some reason. I logged into the Observium subscription website (we have an active sub), retrieved our username and password, and re-entered them into the server to solve the problem.

We had the same thing happen to us. My guess is that our SVN creds were reset from some reason. I logged into the Observium subscription website (we have an active sub), retrieved our username and password, and re-entered them into the server to solve the problem.

It happened to everyone guys, because we upgraded the server and svn asked you to re-enter username and password.
Just wait until we move to SSL and you have to switch URL! ;)

Hi everyone,
Checking our Observium pro version in this new year I noticed a notification it's not up to date anymore. I connected to the server and ran the svn update as usual but I get this error message:
Updating '.': svn: E170013: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/branches/stable' svn: E175002: Unexpected HTTP status 400 'Bad Request' on '/svn/observium/branches/stable'
When I go to that URL with my browser and enter my credentials I get access to the repository...
Did someone already had that? Can you help?
Thanks a lot! Cédric Goset

You have a proxy or firewall breaking the connection.
It sometimes happens when people upgrade/replace their firewalls.
Time to go shout at your security guys! :D

Did not thought about that. It was our firewall that was analyzing the HTTP traffic and it seems he did not liked the svn traffic..
Now it's up to date. Thanks for pointing me the issue :)

Yeah, but as some of us start getting to that point in age where we can’t remember crap any more, that’s when we have to hit the google machine and find out where SVN stored that authentication information so we can find out what it was and re-enter it appropriately.
I’ve been told many times that memory is the second thing that goes with age…. Just wish I could remember what the first was! 😉
