Re: [Observium] asterisk?
Brian, thanks for replying, to be honest, I was not sure my email went through…..since no one at observium bothered to comment! But as far as the agent file, I am not sure how I can use that?
thanks
Tony

There is an asterisk agent file. Have a look at that. Will give you channels / calls and registration numbers I think.

Adam, can you comment on this thread? I think there is an appetite out there for asterisk metrics in observium, would you entertain this?

Hi,
I'm using the asterisk agent thing, and also the one who wrote it. It's working and showing calls, channels and registrations for SIP (for PJSIP I have not pushed my changes to observium) and IAX.
Usage - just install the observium UNIX agent ( https://docs.observium.org/unix_agent/ ) and add/symlink asterisk to /usr/lib/observium_agent/scripts-enabled
/niklas

We don't really have resources to chase individual applications. There's already an contributed agent module that collects some data from Asterisk, though I've no familiarity with Asterisk and I don't know what data it collects. (it seems the original contributor Niklas replied just now about this).
For low volumes of metrics you can use the custom oid system to collect them from SNMP.
There's an endless list of things that people want to collect data from, so we can't get to all of them.
Adam.
