Disable netstats for device type
Hi!
We have a large number of 'Geist' PDU devices, each of which takes around 20-30 seconds to complete the 'netstats' poller element (due to the nasty tiny-brain device, not Observium):
There is no data of value to us collected from this, so I'd like to just disable netstat collection for all current and future Geist devices. Is there a way to do this which doesn't involve clicking on each one and disabling that module manually?
[cid:image001.png@01D70F52.9DBE2C60]
I've trawled the DB as best I can to try to see where I can do this, but unable to identify where module enable/disablement is done. Closest I found is within the devices table, there is device_state and the netstats element is encoded in there in a way I cannot grasp unfortunately.
Devices can be easily matched with: select * from devices where vendor like "geist" - so I'm hoping I can make a change globally somehow?
Cheers!

Hi Robert,
we (currently) have no way to disable modules with any device class.
But by first, please show me poller debug for an such device: ./poller.php -d -m netstats -h <device>
Perhaps the problem in something completely different and can be disabled at the os level.

Module netstats was disabled (by default) for Geist PDUs. Use latest Rolling update (r11063).

Ha! Well, it's definitely doubly fixed now - and is polling without the hanging issue for sure. Only taking around 2 seconds per unit which is great thanks!
Interestingly, I've only just realised that we don't actually get any of their power stats. It's not our main source of that data as it's polled by our billing scripts directly, but now I'm not sure if we ever did get the power data on here?
[cid:image004.png@01D70F73.7AA35860]
It seems to identify them properly as Geist units with the little logo and everything - we use it here for the alerting if they are down etc. - but there are like zero actual data points being polled regarding the power levels on them. I can't say for sure when (or even if) this was working in the past, but could you confirm if these devices are expected to be showing more info than this possibly?
If it's just not actually supported then no problem, I can stick the necessary bits on JIRA for the future if enough people have them - really I'm just curious if maybe I dreamt it was working previously?...
Cheers!

Hi Robert,
I've blacklisted this module on all of the geist os types.
We already had HOST-RESOURCES-MIB blacklisted on these devices, but I guess we missed that they don't like something in the netstats poller too!
Thanks,
Adam.
