Verify what you entered into the syslocation using Google Maps. As long as I set the location to the address recognized by Google Maps it works. The middle of the Atlantic Ocean is where I see devices when it can't map the syslocation address.

Not sure what's wrong there... seems to be working for me (release 4256). I went into one of my devices in Observium and set the Override sysLocation Custom location with that identical address and the map updated (after a few minutes) with the device in NC. Maybe someone else has any ideas?

Rapture City is true, hurray.
syslocation, must be set according rules what openstreemaps have so you can have proper location or you can disable this location thingy.

This is the default location when a location doesn't properly geolocate.
You've either been unlucky enough to chose a load of un-geolocatable locations, or your server doesn't have access to the geolocation API. Are you firewalling it?
BTW, don't set the in-GUI location if you have a sysLocation. It's only there to provide workaround when you can't set sysLocation.
The location will only be re-geolocated if the location changes. You can force it to be re-located by setting location_lat and location_lon to NULL in the devices table in the database.
adam.
I wonder, if given the absence of all other location information for a device, the final action could be to resolve location via geo-ip location mapping. Obviously this would not help with devices numbered out of RFC1918 but may be of some additional use. I would be happy to attempt a patch. I know geo-ip isn't exact and there are issues, especially with IPv6. But seems like an easy gain.
Thoughts?

As an update I am honestly not sure what the issue was. I ran packet filters on our firewalls (even the ones I knew didn't affect this node) and they were forwarding everything. TCP, UDP, IP, etc.
I tried to put this box outside the firewall which in essence would allow it to be used on the other side of our network which spans from a MPLS VPN. However, like that I couldn't reach the box and despite my ACLs still I couldn't reach it. I believe in this instance there was a firewall rule that overruled my own.
So, I just wiped the whole darn thing and started from scratch. After 2 hours of configuration and adding devices I managed to get all 50 devices up, running, polling and Geo Located.
Thanks!
