Clickatell SMS alerts
Hi,
We are running observium professional edition v.18.9.9428. We want to activate SMS alerting using the Clickatell transport however I cannot find where to enter the Clickatell login and password credentials in observium. I can only enter the recipient phone number and the clickatell API key but no login and password for clicktell.
thanks, Chris
Hi,
Sending SMS is done with an API key, not with login and password... You need to generate one on the Clickatell site.

Hi Tom,
Thanks for the update. Simply using the API key does not seem to work for me.
- The observium Doc says: "The Clickatell notification transport requires a username and password to authenticate along with an API ID from Clickatell. You also need both a recipient and sender telephone number." (https://docs.observium.org/alerting_transports/)
- On the clicketall API setup page I cannot create an API which does not require a username and password.
I assume the API type is HTTP for the Clickatell notification transport.
thanks, Chris

Hi Chris
The clickatell docs show you need an API key from your webpanel/integration
https://www.clickatell.com/developers/api-documentation/http-api-send-messag... https://www.clickatell.com/developers/api-documentation/http-api-send-message/
The first thing you’ll need is your HTTP API key generated when you configured the integration settings. This key is the authentication token used to call and unlock your specific integration service.
I think the docs on observium site is abit behind at the moment as you dont need a user/pass anymore only the API key
Hope this helps…
Regards
Simon

Problem solved.
We still had an old clickatell account (before November 2016) which did not allow the use of an API key. We created a new clickatell account which offered the required API key and this solved our problem.
thanks, Chris
