Hi all,
We have the paid version Observium v0.14.3.5133 in the free version our rancid config was working after update to the paid version we get no configs anymore.
The tree of the rancid is the following
/usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs <-- for the accesswitches all cisco
The config.php about rancid is the following:
$config['rancid_configs']['AS'] = '/usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs'; $config['rancid_suffix'] = 'NOT NEEDED '; // Domain suffix for non-FQDN device names $config['rancid_ignorecomments'] = 0; // Ignore lines starting with #
We don't get any config in observium to view did we something wrong ?

Hi Marc,
Please consult the list archives, at some point an extra config variable was needed (split char or something?) - it was posted to this very mailing list.

Hi,
I've done the whole thing even the chmod the directory and added rancid to the www-data group but it still doesn't work.
Also commented the rancid_suffix changed the rancid_configs to different ways but observvium still doesn't show any configs also i made sure that i was logged in as admin the highest user. The rancid is working and gets the configs from the accesswitches the wright way so I can rule the rancid out off the problem.
Anybody have another suggestion ??

Сheck permissions of the directory and the files in the directory: /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs
apache should have read access to rancid files and directories.
try: chmod o+rx /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs chmod o+r /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/*

RANCID Hostname: rsn-as02-dc2-a3 Short hostname: rsn-as02-dc2-a3 Looking in configured directory: /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/ File /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/rsn-as02-dc2-a3 not found.
Observium tell me that the file doesn't exist but a ls shows
ls /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/rsn-as02*
/usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/rsn-as02-dc2-a3
So the file exist.
Also tryed the sugestion from mike
chmod o+rx /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs
But both without any result
Just to be clear the user www-data is a member in rancid and rancid is also a member in www-data so the whole user right thing is the issue i think. Also the config files are NOT empty rancid is working just the wright way.

Observium tell me that the file doesn't exist but a ls shows
ls /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/rsn-as02*
/usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs/rsn-as02-dc2-a3
So the file exist.
Also tryed the sugestion from mike
chmod o+rx /usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs
But both without any result
Just to be clear the user www-data is a member in rancid and rancid is also a member in www-data so the whole user right thing is the issue i think. Also the config files are NOT empty rancid is working just the wright way.

Hi,
I've done the whole thing even the chmod the directory and added rancid to the www-data group but it still doesn't work.

The tree of the rancid is the following

The config.php about rancid is the following:
$config['rancid_configs']['AS'] = '/usr/local/rancid/var/AS/configs'; $config['rancid_suffix'] = 'NOT NEEDED '; // Domain suffix for non-FQDN device names $config['rancid_ignorecomments'] = 0; // Ignore lines starting with #

Marc,
Try "su - www-data -s /bin/bash" and see if you can reach that file. It's possible the user doesn't have access to one of the higher level directories, so it can't go that deep into the hierarchy.

Marc,
I've added a diagnostics page in the last commit where the rancid code is run with debugging output, please go to your device's page and add/change tab=showtech in the url, see what that says.
