Hi,
Is there any plugin for observium to monitor traffic that's being handled by a OpenVswitch?
We have built an openstack-environment and it's built on openvswitch with neutron, I would love to see the integration to be able to see traffic on OVS-ports.
The only option we have today is going zenoss monitoring, from what i've found out there on google atleast.
If there's no solution for this I would suggest someone building one as the lack of monitoring openstack and virtualswitches are big.

This isn't actually an issue related to Openvswitch or Observium.
You simply need to install and configure net-snmp on the VM running Openvswitch.

What I want is getting an overview of the flows, bridges and interfaces on the OVS. Not the NICS that shows in the host.
From what I’ve read snmp is not supported by openvswitch.
So this is not something that is possible to integrate into observium?

It is possible, everything is possible.
But I think it is out of scope for us. None of us on the development team are familiar with the technology involved and none of us have any need to monitor it, so it's unlikely something we would want to commit the required time to develop (and future time to maintain).

I tent to agree with Adam here, snmp and openstack errr don't really go together. Openstack is being developed with openflow support / plugins these days. This is still an evolving area but if you want something you can use now to monitor your clouds network, physical and virtual, have a look at Hyper-glance, 50 nodes and under is free
