Microsoft disabled SMTP basic authentication.

So you need to edit the security baselines in your tenant or use like I do another mailserver. If you are using a static IP you can probably set up a send connector without authentication. But I’ve never tested it with Observium. As SMTP you must use your mx record. Instead of the authentication you allow your IP. But please be aware that this could also be a security issue. Everyone in your network can send emails on your behalf.

In general we recommend not trying to use SMTP, as it's the cause of most "my email notifications don't work" requests. This is doubly true for SMTP to any Microsoft platform.

You should set up an MTA on the system itself, verify it can send email, and just use the PHP built in mail support, and remove all of the other configuration.

You can test notification delivery with ./test_alert.php -c <contact_id> -d
