Hi,
Yes, you have not shown why Observium thinks the device is down, only that it pings x seconds or minutes after the alert is fired. Please provide the device's last event logs when it's being considered down.

This seems to suggest that the servers are frequently not responding to ping.
Probably caused by either poor connectivity or some form of rate-limiting imposed by an in-path firewall or similar.

I don't see how that can be the case all the time when you can in the former mails observium saying the server is offline but you also see that i can clearly ping the server from observium.
in that specific scenario the server should have recovered since ping was responsive

Umm. Observium only pings every 5 minutes - at the start of every poll.

Hi,
Yes, you have not shown why Observium thinks the device is down, only that it pings x seconds or minutes after the alert is fired. Please provide the device's last event logs when it's being considered down.

Check if the device can accept ping from IP observium source address. Check if there is some firewall rules that drop the ping after a while

Umm. Observium only pings every 5 minutes - at the start of every poll.

This seems to suggest that the servers are frequently not responding to ping.
Probably caused by either poor connectivity or some form of rate-limiting imposed by an in-path firewall or similar.

The device(s) is intermittently failing to respond to ping. Whether that is an issue at the local or remote ends is something you need to work out.

You'll probably be able to see it happening with mtr at short intervals.
Increasing retries should help, depending upon how long the replies are being lost.

Hi,
Yes, you have not shown why Observium thinks the device is down, only that it pings x seconds or minutes after the alert is fired. Please provide the device's last event logs when it's being considered down.

over the last few days i have starting seen alert mails with device down.. but its not down.. and there is no recover..
anyone got a suggestion why that could be?
I mean it could be a short connection problem but than i would assume to see recover mail aswell?
