Error while adding localhost. Problem with SNMP

Hi All, For some reason, I couldn’t add localhost itself. I guess the problem is with SNMP. Please find the error messages and logs below. Would be great if anyone could help. With regards to the question of "why FreeBSD?", that's personal preference. I'm more comfortable troubleshooting on FreeBSD than on Linux… Is there any way to make poller-wrapper.py produce more logging? (I admit not going through the code). Regards Rutger

poller-wrapper.py not working on FreeBSD?

I have the following line in my /etc/crontab on FreeBSD9.1: */5 * * * * root /opt/observium/poller-wrapper.py 1 >> /dev/null 2>&1 I can manually run the poller (as root) but all monitored interfaces go to '0'. Router health and interface counters seems to be logged and graphed correctly, so it's starting to look like a viable alternative to some of the larger closed source systems. I especially like the simplicity of the design which should allow for some additional sensor development down the that I'll submit back. So kudos on the system, I quite like it. Now - onto the issue, and I'm assuming given the size of the user-base this is likely to be configuration, but I've read and re-read the related doco and I'm unable to find anything wrong. I've added a Cisco 877 device, port counters and health are being logged and graphed correctly, but the ip-sla statistics and adsl line statistics are not. The header line includes dsl stats, and those stats appear to update according to the polling schedule, but the graphs do not. Also, the file timestamp is NOT updating on the adsl RRD file. it is however updating on the sla rrd file. rrdtool dump reveals that the rrd file contains no rows that have a value. config file contains $config['enable_ports_adsl'] = 1; # Enable ADSL-LINE-MIB $config['enable_sla'] = 1; Observium CE 0.13.10.4585 Apache 2.2.22 (Ubuntu) PHP 5.3.10-1ubuntu3.8 MySQL 5.5.29-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 RRDtool 1.4.7 [cid:image001.png@01CECE80.E0CDC300] [cid:image002.png@01CECE80.E0CDC300]

I re-read the docs a zillion times but obviously I must overlook something truly basic. What bothers me is that poller-wrapper.py doesn't work from the command line either, which means I must have something wrong in my install somewhere… Anybody using Observium on FreeBSD willing to share their cron setup? Making use of hdarray

Hi all, I've been trying to make use of hdarray (added in http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-233) but it seems like there's a bit of an issue with the patch: it doesn't contain the actual observium-agent module. The patch seems to have been merged into SVN's devel branch (http://www.observium.org/svn/observer/branches/devel/includes/polling/unix-…, for example) but there's no hdarray module in SVN's devel branch either (see http://www.observium.org/svn/observer/branches/devel/scripts/agent-local/) which should rule out the possibility of it being added in right after. Am I looking in the wrong place or is the hdarray module simply missing? Cheers, Henri Watson

You added it to the wrong crontab file because you didn't follow the instructions, despite the giant red box I recently added to make it super clear which file to add it to. Adam.
