Then I ran unto subscription version and I have noticed port-channel members are not appearing anymore in the port list, for example, in a 4500 VSS. Ok, I see that Pushover is now a contact method. Great! Erm, how do I make it work? I've tried creating a new application and putting the API token in the "Destination" field, but it doesn't appear to work that way. What goes in the Destination field? Tim

Small feature request

Hi All! One colleague of mine recently met this little (let's call it) glitch, and as he is rather new to the software, he had a hard time solving it (he had to ask me to get introduced into the concept of disabled devices, and the place to search for :)). So when one wants to add a new device, and it already exists, Observium writes a simple error message, like: "Already got device x.y.z.net." What I would like to suggest is two things: 1. make the device name in this error message clickable as anywhere else. This way the novice user can click on the host and see that it's really there 2. if the device is disabled, maybe indicate it in this message, like "Already got device x.y.z.net only disabled" This way the novice user would see why he didn't found the device in the first place. Now that I think of it again, the second one is rather overkill, but the first one would be an easy but logical advancement. Regards, Tylla

Geolocation and Mapping

Hi Guys, As some of you might already have noticed, MapQuest have changed the policies on their geolocation API, breaking our previous geolocation defaults. We briefly switched the default API to Open Street Maps, but due to the large Observium userbase they weren't able to support our request load, and we've since had to switch to Yahoo's geolocation API. If you've kept the subscription version up to date, you should already have these new defaults. The community version can change the geolocation API in the config.php, but doesn't currently support the Yahoo API, which will come in the next release. Details for settings can be found at : http://www.observium.org/docs/config_options/#syslocation-configuration Observium also has support for Yandex and Google geolocation, and though Google's geolocation works best, it can only be used with a commercial license, so that can only be enabled by organisations with such a license. This means that some addresses which previously geolocated may not geolocate properly now (each API has its own quirks when it comes to parsing addresses, so ones which worked before may not work now, and vice-versa!). We're investigating setting up our own geolocation and map imaging servers, along with switching to a new mapping library to try to remove reliance on external organisations. Thanks, adam. Any Materials for Observium new starter?

Hi All, My company just decided that we will be using Observium as the network monitoring on new network environment and the server hosting the Observium is set up and running by one of the Engineers. However, I will be the engineer managing the platform and I’m very much new to the product. More so, I have looked on the web site and Google, it seems that there aren’t enough comprehensive video or guide on how to manage the product bearing in mind that I am new to Linux platform. Please can some one point me to the right direction to get the basic materials needed for Observium? Separate emails for alerts sent to contacts

Hi, I'm looking at using Observium contacts + alerts to replace some alerting we do for customers using Nagios. Is it possible to send a separate email to the primary device contact and any additional contacts specified for alerts in the contact section rather than populating the to field with all recipients on a single email? If not would this be difficult to implement? We'd prefer not to expose the internal email address that receives our alerts to our customers if possible. Thanks, Chris

Observium Graph Issue

Hi, I have configured observium on aws ec2 instance, also add hosts in that with snmp installed. I have also tried to check with snmpwalk command on both side, its working fine. Observium boucing on ifalias

Hi there, We have a strange issue with the ifalias. We have one Juniper EX4550 with multiple customers on it. There was a bad character in the description : description "Cust: [FIBRE] {XXX} Paris - Zayo Cid:XXXXX Cable:R03110-fo-9-10�”; Observium was bouncing on the if desc. As soon as I change it, no bouncing . Not sure if it’s a bug report, but I just share it here :) Best, Raphael

add storage info to alert mail

Hi observiumers.. I have a storage_perc alert which sends me a nice email when my storage is above 95%. is it somehow possible to get the actuall storage used and left included in the mail. Since its a procentage there could still be potiential 50GB og free space left.. it all depends on the original size.

Graphing sum total of Current and Power

Would it be possible to add a Total Graph for specific Heath statistics, similar to how the total graphs are displayed for Peering, Transit, and Core port types? What I am interested in is essentially adding values already collected by Observium from a handful of devices (rack PDU's) to determine the combined Current in amps and Power in watts to graph and track power consumption across an entire row or even datacenter. We can see this information per-rack from the PDU device already added to Observium, but for our datacenter managers it would be useful to track power consumption across the whole room or suite. In several of our POPs power is provided so we cannot poll the UPS itself- only our own rack PDUs connected to the facility's power bus. Even then, most have A and B side power so we have two PDUs per rack. To the end, I have created a device group by sensor sorting "pdu" device names and filtering for their output values. However, the built-in aggregate graphs show each device's data on one graph and doesn't combine them for a total. Further, my filter seems to pull many values labeled "Output" including voltage and amperage as well as wattage. Any suggestions to refine my filter to get one group for Amps and another for Watts? Please see the screenshots below. Most PDU's are APC model AP8941. I admit this would really only be useful for the "Power" and "Current" health monitors, as items like voltage and temperature are really only useful per-device. Even then, these total graphs would have the most value being filtered to a specific set of devices and likely by location. Maybe a total graph display under /groups may be more useful than one under /health/metric=power or /health/metric=current?
