Nexus 5596 polling slowness

Hello, Just curious if anyone else is seeing long polling times for Nexus 5596UP switches. Everything else in our deployment is responding in a timely manner and there are no bottlenecks on the Observium server at this point. ./poller.php: access2-2a.sj2 - 1 devices polled in 243.6 secs Polling times in the high 200 second range are not uncommon while most all of our other high port density devices are well under 30 seconds. If anyone has found a NXOS software version that works better than others please let me know. We have tried on various software version 5,6 and 7 releases. I can only imagine this is a Cisco issue but thought I'd ask here in case anyone solved it. Regards, Dan Bliss

Cisco ASA failover

I noticed that a pair of firewalls I had failed over about a month ago but the only thing showing in the logs of the device was that the mac addresses all changed. Is there a way to get better alerting on failover? I know the stateful failover are almost sub second but logs are generated. Not sure if you can monitor that with SNMP but figured I would throw that out there. Carlos

Basic Cisco Meraki hardware support

Hi Adam/All I may have missed how to make a more formal submission for hardware support, so if there is one let me know. However, I suspect the mailing list is probably a good arena for any criticism/pointers on what to do better/what not to do when attempting to add new device support. -- I’ve recently been involved in the installation of equipment and support for a mobile medical facility. We’ve used Meraki switches and access points for a number of reasons, not least of which is the instant monitoring/alerts capability, web based management, web based troubleshooting capabilities and easy provisioning of equipment when it needs to be replaced. As much as the Meraki web management portal is useful, it’s not necessarily always available in this facility and we needed a local management system/interface to monitor the equipment, alert local users to any failures/problems, and provide a quick and easy “view” for all of the ICT equipment within the mobile facility. So, I used Observium, but needed to add support for the Meraki components. Meraki provide an SNMP interface to their cloud management platform. It’s basically useless if talking directly to equipment as there’s currently no extra information you can extract from the devices themselves. The Meraki Cloud Controller MIB can be obtained here, https://n85.meraki.com/resources/MERAKI-CLOUD-CONTROLLER-MIB.mib Their cloud controller itself looks like the below. I don't really want to add this to Observium myself but have included the OID for detection and possible to for additional inventory collection at a later date. Print Interface Details - show other devices in the same subnet - need to exclude the private IP addresses ?

Hi All, I have a small suggestion regarding the info displayed together with each interface under 'Port' => 'Detail' . There we noticed the observium displays all other devices on the same subnet from other devices at the last column of each interface irrespective of whether they are real IPs ( internet routable ) or Private IP addresses ( defined in RFC 1918 ). Although this feature is really good, we feel that if there is an option to exclude certain IP subnets from this selection, specially the private IP addresses it would make sense because we found there are lot of unrelated interfaces are getting listed ( about 50 items ) under this merely because of the fact that they are having the same IP addresses/subnets but which are completely different and isolated device interfaces in other VPNs which is common in IP VPN setups. We found the location where this logic is programmed, and we can easily changed the SQL query to accommodate this as follows ( *`ipv4_address` NOT LIKE '192.168.% etc. ) *shown below But it would be elegant if these excluding subnets could be defined as a config parameter and filter them here. monitor /dev/sg1 temperatre sensor

Hi All, i don’t know if this is possible or not or even if i need to create a custom script to do this for me? but i want to monitor the temperature of HDD's thats plugged into a RAID controller? currently the hddtemp doesn’t detect the HDD :( but i did get some progress with using the /dev/sg1 device instead of /dev/sda root@proxmox2:/etc# hddtemp /dev/sg1 /dev/sg1: ST3500413AS: drive supported, but it doesn't have a temperature sensor. and from what i can tell i can pull out information using the smartctl command root@proxmox2:/etc# smartctl -d sat -a /dev/sg1 | grep -i temperature 190 Airflow_Temperature_Cel 0x0022 067 053 045 Old_age Always - 33 (Min/Max 22/43) 194 Temperature_Celsius 0x0022 033 047 000 Old_age Always - 33 (0 15 0 0) is the something I’m missing with the hddtemp? or does it require a custom script? regards Simon

Bulk add bills

I just bulk added about 500 client devices (CPE's) to Observium. Trying to figure out a bulk way to add them to traffic accounting / billing. I want to make a bill for each device (customer), based on the device name is fine and then associate a port to the bill. All of the devices are exactly the same and the name of the port is the same on each. Below would be amazing if this existed. Or does it? I would be able to concatenate in Excel right into this. Like I did to bulk add the devices. ./create_bill.php <description> <billing_type> <billing_type> <billing_amount> <billing_day> (customer_reference) (billing_reference) (notes) ./add_bill_port.php <description> <device_hostname> <port_name> (Repeat as necessary) Adding <filename> to the above php scripts, the same way add_device.php has, would be great. help with an alarm

Hi there. Resending out message as I am hoping someone can assist me with this. How on earth do you make a packet loss alarm? IE if a CPE hits over 30% then it will alarm? I cant find an attribute from the guide to do this. I have set an alert as device_ping gt 250 type_match * * This works when a cpe hits over 250mms thus showing latency. But how do I do a packet loss? I have tried packet_loss gt 30 but as this is not in the list it dosnt work! Any help would be most appreciated.
