No Devices Shown in New Installation

Hi - Warning: Here's another one of the "I installed it but it doesn't work!" e-mails. I recently setup Observium (SVN from Dec 23, 2012) on a Debian testing/unstable x86_64-based host. I followed all of the instructions with the exception of the installation of libvirt packages (I don't appear to have a need for it) and although I appear to have successfully added devices, none of them show up in the web UI. The three devices I've added are the following: o Juniper SRX100 o FreeBSD x86_64 Host o Linux x86_64 Host According to observium.log the cron jobs are running fine and the devices are being polled: (atlantis:16:44)# tail -n 8 observium.log /opt/observium/poller.php all December 24, 2012, 16:25 - 3 devices polled in 21.97 secs /opt/observium/discovery.php new December 24, 2012, 16:30 - 0 devices discovered in 0.001 secs /opt/observium/poller.php all December 24, 2012, 16:30 - 3 devices polled in 21.46 secs /opt/observium/discovery.php new December 24, 2012, 16:35 - 0 devices discovered in 0.002 secs /opt/observium/poller.php all December 24, 2012, 16:35 - 3 devices polled in 21.41 secs /opt/observium/discovery.php new December 24, 2012, 16:40 - 0 devices discovered in 0.002 secs /opt/observium/poller.php all December 24, 2012, 16:40 - 3 devices polled in 21.97 secs /opt/observium/discovery.php new December 24, 2012, 16:45 - 0 devices discovered in 0.000 secs I'm not sure exactly what check-errors.php does (maybe it just checks the RRDs), but it seems to indicate that there aren't any glaring issues: (atlantis:16:45)# ./check-errors.php Checked 80 interfaces 0 interfaces with errors over the past 5 minutes. I even looked in the MySQL DB and the `devices` table seems to be populated correctly. The problem is that the web UI doesn't show any devices: http://www.prolixium.com/share/screens/observium-devices.png However, if I navigate to System -> About Observium, the statistics table shows devices, interfaces, CPUs, etc.: http://www.prolixium.com/share/screens/observium-stats.png I've got to be missing something obvious. I thought the user I created might not have sufficient privileges, but I created the user "prox" with privilege level 10. The only thing that did not go 100% as expected was the DB schema load. The instructions indicated that errors in the SQL revisions /up to/ 006 will be expected, but I saw two errors past revision 006: (atlantis:18:06)# php includes/sql-schema/update.php -- Updating database schema 000 -> 001 ... done. 001 -> 002 ... done. 002 -> 003 ... done. 003 -> 004 ... done. 004 -> 005 ... done. 005 -> 006 ... done. 006 -> 007 ... done (1 errors). 007 -> 008 ... done. [..snip..] 031 -> 032 ... done. 032 -> 033 ... done (2 errors). 033 -> 034 ... done. [..snip..] 039 -> 040 ... done. -- Done I'm not sure if this is minor or something to be concerned about. Here is some package information: mysql-server-5.5 5.5.24+dfsg-9 libapache2-mod-php5 5.4.4-10 apache2-mpm-prefork 2.2.22-12 There appear to be no PHP errors in the Apache error log I setup for the Observium virtual host. Is there anything else I should check? Oh, I'm using Google Chrome 23.0.1271.101 on MacOS 10.8 (at the moment, at least). Cisco MPLS networks with pseudowires

All, I'm looking at rewriting the Cisco pseudowire code, as it basically doesn't work properly at all. Do any of you have a small network using pseudowires (MPLS and/or L2TPv3) you don't mind giving SNMP access to, or a bunch of spare lab routers you could spare for a while to put up a test network? Only Cisco is really relevant at the moment, as the MIBs for doing this are vendor specific! :( Thanks, adam.

syslog date error

Hi I've got syslog working like a charm... My devices are logging to my observium installation and the /syslog page are displaying everything nicely. But today something weird happened. The time is now 11:18 on december the 20th. But on the syslog page it says: Recent Syslog Messages 20th Dec 23:59:55 fw10 FILTERDNS : host_dns: failed looking up "CBB": hostname nor servname provided, or not known If i take a look in the database, the last syslog message is this one: 7 1 4 4 filterdns: 2012-12-20 11:15:03 FILTERDNS host_dns: failed looking up "TMP": hostname nor s... 1987 What's going on? :) BR Stefan Milo

esxi 5.1 cpu graph not working properly

Hi I am having some issues with the CPU graph in my home lab with a small server running esxi 5.1 with a dual core amd cpu. I have attached a screenshot of the problem. The graph in observium seems to be following a path of its own. Even when doing som cpu burn tests, nothing happens. Any ideas? BR Stefan Milo Happy holidays

IPSEC tunnel count continuously increments

I've built a DMVPN test network with one hub and one spoke and upon monitoring them, I notice the graph for IPSEC Active Tunnels (/graphs/type=device_cipsec_flow_tunnels) increments by one every hour - only on the spoke router, not on the hub. So I'm wondering where Observium is grabbing that piece of data from? Which SNMP OID? If I do a "show crypto eli" on the spoke, I have 2 active sessions (Observium now reports 66), and 12 on the hub (Observium reports 5). Any ideas? All Ports Pagination

Hi All I've noticed, that when I go to Ports->All Ports, all Ports are displayed instead of the first 100. When clicking Next or so, then the pagination works. Is this a bug or a feature ? Anyone has the same behaviour ? voice monitoring anyone intersted?

So just wondering is anyone interested in voice monitoring stuff to get added into observium? Lets say DIAL-CONTROL-MIB which allow you to know how much calls your current device processing + some success/failure/errors rate. Anyone using voice gateways here on looking forward for these features?
