Verify cron and your SNMP.conf file. It took a discovery poller and time before mine populated. Add a sysContact to your switch and add it on the device in observium. Click the gear when drilled down to a device. Just the switch one is required but both helps in rare cases. Also, my pleasure. Checking the Juniper docs it seems that there is MIB support in JUNIPER-VPN-MIB… If I snmpwalk 1.3.6.1.4.1.2636.3.26 I do indeed get the pseudowire status from the box… I put it here: http://pastebin.com/mMuhdKbA 123456789 is the sanitized pseudo wire ID… Not having looked at the Cisco MIB for this, is it remotely similar making this a doable adventure? When I add a device to Observium using the CLI it has no issue adding the device. However, when I run a ./poller.php -h all it says that there is no rrd directory. All the graphs have a "Data Error" on them. So, I create the rrd folder and run again. Then data populates. However, it doesn't list any graphics for the graphs. The graph is present without issue but there is no traffic. Pseudowire Cisco-Juniper monitoring

Just setup a hybrid Cisco to Juniper pseudo wire. It is detected by Observium just fine on the Cisco side, but not on the Juniper side showing a half circuit. Can I somehow get this working without reverting to a Cisco-Cisco setup? Regards Rutger

I am trying to pulling nginx nginx_status from observium. But when I run the nginx script I got the following error: ./nginx <<<nginx>>> Traceback (most recent call last): File "./nginx", line 35, in <module> Active = int(params["Reading"]) + int(params["Writing"]) + int(params["Waiting"]) KeyError: 'Reading' Observium is not generating any graph for NGINX. Mount points on windows

I have a few exchange servers with all of the drives configured as mount points from the SAN as there are not enough drive letters to add them as local disks. MIB development

I am by no means a developer. We currently use a lot of AudioCodes MediaPacks and Mediants for 911 VoIP solutions and are in need of monitoring the traffic from them. Is there anyone out there that would be willing to develop the observium MIB integration for us? We would gladly pay if need be and supply the MIBs. Or could someone point us in the right direction if this is the incorrect place to ask? Thanks! Johnathon

snmp and unix-agent question

It might sounds stupid but I wanted to ask anyway. :-) The same way the snmp works for distro and parsing the distro data, using: extend .1.3.6.1.4.1.2021.7890.1 distro /usr/bin/distro is there a way to use the same or similar for unix-agent ? And parse all the unix-agent data plus any local scripts through snmp ? The purpose to this is to parse the information of workstations behind multiple local networks with one single IP seeing the internet on every lan. So I can use NAT/port forwarding to get different snmpd ports for every workstation on one IP, but I cannot use unix-agent. Is there a way? Thanks in advance, Chris

Database Query option in footer

Hello, There used to be a database query option in the footer of the page that told you what database queries were used to build the page. I can't seem to find that option in the configuration options. Is that option to have that still available? I used that to see the relationships between the database tables. So in my data warehouse I could create reports concerning billing, links between switches, IOS revisions, etc. Thanks, Mike

Hello. Yes i looked into it and all premissions where ok. However I did remove all the devices that was in the system and readded them and then the Graphs that where blank started to live again. graphing question

Hi guys, I have a question on graphing. Last week I took some screen shots of our graphs for a specific simulation and then checked again this week for the exact same time periods and the numbers are the same, but the graphs are different. How does the graphing work exactly? In this first picture, we were wondering why the 225.05k isn't showing on the graph. It only goes up to 40k: [cid:image001.jpg@01CEF109.7988A100] When I checked this exact same graph with the same date and time stamp a week later, the numbers are the exact same, but the graph has changed although still doesn't go up to 225.05k, but does go up higher to 75k: [cid:image002.jpg@01CEF109.7988A100] Any help or insight is greatly appreciated! Hello. I installed the free version to get some feel for the software and after that went for a subscription. When I updated the release the graphs stopped working. I installed JPgraph and don't have the warning but for some reason the Graphs stay blank. Running fresh install of Ubuntu 13.10 I deleted the hole observium folder together with Apache webserver (I imagined I missed a step somewhere or similarly) And then reinstalled from fresh Still cant get the graphs to show. Well looks like if I delete device with billed ports at also delete billable past data or just borked mysql query? I can paste &debug data of graph, but it easily reproducible on any local install.

My apologies if this has been answered, but I searched and did not find the answer in the archives or the documentation. I'm also a Windows admin and not nearly as familiar with linux or the apache web server so I've been fumbling around the internet quite a bit to get this going. Ubuntu 13.04 Observium Revision 13.10.4585 Followed Ubuntu Installation page exactly. Most everything is working thus far, but from what I've found online, at least one of the items that isn't working was fixed in later versions. I paid the subscription and submitted a username / password hash. After receiving the confirmation email from Adam I tried to use the "svn checkout http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/trunk/ observium" command to download the latest version. However, I get a couple error messages and I'm wondering if I need to configure the svn client before it will work. Or I may even be entering the username / password incorrectly? Below is the error messages that I receive whether I use an incorrect username/password combo or the one I submitted. "svn: E175002: Unable to connect to a repository at URL 'http://svn.observium.org/svn/observium/trunk' " and "svn: E175002 OPTIONS of 'http://svn.observium.org/svn/obserium/trunk' : could not read status line: connection was closed by server (http://svn.observium.org)" Thanks guys, love the product so far! Updating from before the subscription scheme

Hi All, I want to update my Observium install for which I would normally run `svn update` however I haven't updated since the subscription scheme was initiated. Firstly, I'm happy with the subscription option, it's a worthy cause so I will be paying my 100 squid tomorrow or the day after. In the mean though if I run `svn update` now (I'm in a rush to update), will I just hit an svn authentication error and it won't update, or will it update then shit the bed? I don't want to fuck my perfectly happy instance of Observium and the funds aren't mine for a couple of days until the higher ups give it to me. I'm happy to wait though. Cheers, James.

Billing aggregated links not working

Hi, We having problems with 95% billing with 2 ports. The graphs are just fine but the 95% percentile value keeps being 0 bpps. billing-calculate.php shows: 12/01/13 @ 00:00:00 to 12/31/13 @ 23:59:59 CDR 90Mbps 0bps 0% Updated! Updated history! Today I upgraded to latest revision but does not fix it either. Other customers are working fine but they do not have combined/multiple links in the billing module. - Gerwin

Ubuntu 13.10 Install

Hi Guys, I got my observium working on 13.10. Instead of "Allow from All" in apache, they now need "Require IP", so my config now has the following in the Directory: <Directory "/opt/observium/html/"> Options FollowSymLinks MultiViews AllowOverride All Require ip 192.168 </Directory> Seems to work then. This is all based on the instructions on the wiki page. I will shout if I find more broken things and how to fix. Cheers, Pieter

How to enable bulkwalk?

I'm probably missing something really obvious, but how do you get Observium to use bulkwalk instead of walk? Currently using revision 4586. Trying to get poller times down, running: poller.php -h 51 -d to debug, and it sticks on this command: /usr/bin/snmpwalk -v2c -c 'COMMNAME' -OQUs -m IF-MIB -M /opt/observium/mibs 'udp':'x.x.x.x':'161' ifXEntry Which makes sense, as there's an awful lot of interfaces on that particular device. Running that command manually, using time, gives me: real 2m35.743s user 0m0.326s sys 0m0.168s Replacing /usr/bin/snmpwalk with /usr/bin/snmpbulkwalk and running again gives me: real 0m14.914s user 0m0.080s sys 0m0.038s I'd much rather have this take 15 seconds than 110. I could have sworn I saw something somewhere about setting some different snmpwalk flags, but I can't find anything in the docs, the faqs, the archives, the googles. But it's Friday, so, again, I'm probably missing something obvious. Thanks.

If I remember correctly, we use bulkwalk by default unless it's blacklisted by the OS type, if we saw it didn't fully support it... Ideas on Packet Loss?

Attached is a picture of one device in the network that keeps throwing a fit. I regularly get the notice that it is down (Netscreen 204) and that there is packet loss. Now I think that the two issues may be different. When I "get clock," I show UP 1741 hours. Is this an issue with Observium? If so, I don't know how to change that. I have my Observium server in the same rack as the device in question. Otherwise, it's something with my hardware-obviously. I know that I may feel the wrath of Adam, but I'm trying to narrow down what ISN'T the issue. Status: Currently no subscription. Hello! we have a bunch of Lexmark printers spread around the entire company. We are looking for a software to monitor the remaining toner capacity. I have tested Observium. A real nice software. However we got only the typical information like CPU, storage or RAM usage. No information about toner. I am !! In a production environment we may avoid bugs and more risky problems (like an insane SNMP discoverer, or something like that). Stable vs Trunk

As it turns out, waiting for a bit of software to feel un-buggy enough to call stable is a little bit like chasing a magic dragon in a pharmaceutically-enhanced dream, a largely unattainable goal. It's a little difficult to gauge stability when we have half a dozen commits per day! Are any of you using the stable branch, and if so, how often and under what conditions would you want me to merge changes? adam.

duplicate system name

Hello, my observium lab was on 0.12.10.3399. I have some problem with my graphs but it's not a problem i just did a fresh install on new server with last observium version 0.13.10.4721. The tutorial was great and my install work perfect. When i start to add my devices i had some error. Some device have the same system name and when i tri to add them, the 2nd one don't work. "Already got device with SNMP-read sysName (system.name)" I didn't get this on my lab. billing module not loading three javascript files

Hi all, In my Observium I have issues with the billing graphs where only the quick graphs are loading correctly. The browser inspector shows: Failed to load a resource : A server with the specified hostname cannot be found : http:<my hostname>js/bootstrap-loader.js Failed to load a resource : A server with the specified hostname cannot be found : http:<my hostname>js/bootstrap-tab.js Failed to load a resource : A server with the specified hostname cannot be found : http:<my hostname>js/billing.js It looks like the ‘/‘ after the hostname is missing… Tried to find where this is set and found three files in html/pages/ called: bill.php.inc bills.php.inc packages.inc.php Manually adding a ‘/‘ there does not solve the problem, and then I’m at the end of my l33t observ1um debug skills. Choosing an “transfer graph” gives a “Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 500” in the inspector for the graph after the other three above, but it might be totally unrelated. Quick graphs work fine. Anybody encounter this too? regards, Rutger

As this is only an issue when adding certain devices, we could make this a commandline option to addhost.php.
