Got permission denied on IE

Traffic bills

Hi Adam About the traffic Bills. After a month is billing period is completed will the data be preserved even if interfaces are added/removed from the billing? The reason I ask is that it is a hassle too keep track of aggregated usage of things like Peering/Infrastructure/Transit as you constantly upgrade and move things around. Aruba feature request

What would be handy for us is to have graphs of not just the number of clients on our Aruba M3 controllers, but the number of .1x clients and the number of captive portal clients. This could either be separate graphs or combined with the 'number of clients' graphs. Don't mind really. Discovery of large stack causes hardware to become unresponsive

Hello I are testing Observium in a new environment after previous success stories elsewhere. We have noted that when we run device discovery on a stack of 5 Cat3750 (12.2-50-SE1) the "device" becomes unresponsive to any other queries / pings / ssh for approximately 5-6 minutes (during the discovery cycle). Once the discovery is complete, the poller, pings, and other operations return to normal. Note that traffic flow does not appear to be affected across the switch. Total ports on the stack are 278 (no argument that it is a large number of ports to poll from a single device). Regular polling of the device does not appear to have any consequences, it is specific to the discovery module. Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks Patrick

Hi Patrick. That's surely not supposed to happen. It's quite a number of ports, but certainly nothing that should be an issue, i poll larger stacks and people poll devices with thousands of interfaces. I would try to check with the -d switch and see which queries lock it up, then report this to cisco as that's simply unacceptable. If you know what causes it and you don't happen to need that info, you could disable that discovery module for those devices. Web UI doesn't show

Dear All, I need some help for installing observium in Ubuntu 12.04. I've followed the manual in the website for the installation and everything went smooth until I actually want to deploy the web UI. I've managed to add in the device and had paste the code listed in the page to /etc/apache2/sites-available/default. But when I access the website, it shows nothing but error message saying that nothing has been found. I've checked my apache2 error log and it says "File does not exist: /etc/apache2/htdocs". I have another website in the server as well, does it have a problem with something else hosted in it? RANCID config data

Just svn upped to latest version, and now RANCID tab doesn't show config. Has anyone else seen this issue? I just checked the config on a device before I updated and everything was working properly. Now all my devices still show the config tab, but no actual config data: [cid:image001.jpg@01CE14F1.5C0469B0] Anyone else had this issue or is it something local to my system? Thanks

With the ipoman for example i would like to give a user access to a specific sensor, so they can monitor their powerport and their ampere consumption. Device up/down conditions

Can someone help me understand the algorithm/conditions that will cause a device to be flagged up/down in Observium? Reason I ask is I'm seeing instances where devices will get flagged as 'down' however when I login to the Observium host and manually test via fping/snmpwalk, I get valid responses back. The devices come back a few minutes later. I don't see anything in observium.log aside from poller completion results, so I could use some more info/ideas to help debug why these devices keep going offline intermittently. Cheers, -Chris

Hiya, I'd like to make a feature request. It's a slight modification really. In the User Management -> Edit User section you can grant a user access to a device by selecting a device from a drop down box. Would it be possible to change this from a single select to a multi-select box please? We may have to add over a hundred devices to several users. A multi-select would reduce this work from mind-numbing to merely tedious. Hi, Observium only logs when a BGP session goes up, but not when a session goes down. Is this a bug or can this be configured somewhere? Clean install - SQL Schema errors

I noticed that there are several errors running the schema creation on a clean/fresh install. Managed to run it without errors after a quick review and posted a patch at http://jira.observium.org/browse/OBSERVIUM-219 Some files even "errored" on the first line so maybe many changes never got to the database in production installations, any ideas about how to check schema "consistency"?. It requires SNMP contexts, which are a pain. We've been wary of using them because then can cause huge poller delays on devices which don't support them. Adam. We could use device attributes to disable it if it fails. But that might trigger if the device went down mid-poll :-\ Adam. ARP Table empty

Hi list, The "ARP Table" on all ports is empty (f.e. /device/device=95/tab=port/port=13844/view=arp/), I'm wondering why... Shouldn't there be listed all MAC addresses in the MAC address table ("show mac address-table")? Or is this really just the MAC<->IP table? If yes, are MAC addresses tables saved in the Observium database to see which MAC address is on which switchport? Looking at the "ARP Table" from all Ports (f.e. /device/device=95/tab=ports/view=arp/) there are MAC adresses which belongs to an IP address. All devices are Cisco Switches or Brocade Router. Integration with NFSEN

Hi all, Are you not sleeping well because there are gaps in your graphs? Do you feel like your observium poller isn't putting enough effort into its sole task of polling every device and completing that task in less than 5 minutes? Fear not, a dirty script called "poller-wrapper.py" is here! I wrote a small wrapper that has a slightly more modern approach to getting things done. An issue with the multiple poller instances approach[1] is that when a single instance has to poll a few slow devices, that single instance cannot finish its work in time, while the instances that already finished their portion of the work will not 'help' the instance with the slow devices. This wrapper script will create a Queue with all the work that has to be done and launch a number of threads which will take work from the Queue until the queue is empty. This distributes the workload over the instances move evenly, thus improving performance and thus making it more likely to finish all the polling work within 5 minutes. Hello, I just did a new installation of observium in our network and I pretty much like it. Unfortunately, I do have the problem, that all graphs are empty while f.ex. the temperature readings on the device overview page are fine.
