Hi, Graphs for my stack was not correct. I have 4 swtich in stack. And observium return values very strange. 500Go by interface.... :/ Cisco IOS Software, C3750 Software (C3750-IPBASEK9-M), Version 15.0(2)SE, I have the last svn update on centos 6.2 I test to delete the host, delete rrd directory, and add my host. No more graphs after upgrade

Hello, I have a problem I had revision 3049, due to a small problem displaying the heath status of the drives I updated to HEAD and immediatly run ./discovery.php -h new. All functionality seems to be there but I have no new graphs, any ideas on how to troubleshoot/fix this problem? Thank you. Max Leon

[Patch] Collectd v5 Apache fix

Hi there, I noticed collectd graphing of Apache graphs is broken after Collectd released version 5 of their software. The data source name has changed from 'value' to 'count'. See attached patch. I do have some older nokia systems (IP380's, IP530's, and I think an IP740) laying around somewhere, but most of the new systems are using Secure Platform (R65, R70, R71, R75) versions and/or UTM's (basically the same thing, they all RedHat Enterprise v5.4 9(2.6.18 kernel) slimmed down with an extra checkpoint mib tree for items outside the base OS). We also have some provider-1 deployments (management station) but that I would consider future if anything. solaris 10 / net-snmp not getting cpu stats

Still testing with various devices here, found an interesting issue. I have a M3000 sun box with solaris 10 on it, which gets added fine and most of the graphs appear to be eyeball correct, however am NOT stats for cpu utilization. Interfaces are polled via IF-MIB. Almost every device is identical for that. Either you switch is not exposing these interfaces in snmp or they are being filtered. Try running discovery in debug for that host. Adam. Graphs only work when debuging

Hello, On a fresh install of observium on ubuntu 12.04 (LAMP) we are having issues with the graphs not showing up. The graphs display as a broken image icon. If you access the image url directly that is loading /graph.php?.... you still get a broken image. But when you try to debug the issue, (we append &debug=1 to the url) the image displays correctly. Turning on debuging on the parent page yields no useful data, and the graphs are still broken images, but we assume that is because the debug variable isn't passed down to the image url. The graphs are getting generated in the /tmp directory and have valid data. I am at a loss of where to look to figure out what we either forgot to do or have misconfigured. Subversion shows that we are upto date at version 3360 Thank you, Brian

Post saturation warnings / alerts disabled ?

Dear all, For some reason, I'm getting Port saturation threshold warnings for ports on a switch where I have disabled 'alerting' for that specific port. Is that normal ? Or some kind of bug ? adding IPv6-only hosts fails

Observium Not logged in!

I've installed a new server under Ubuntu server like describe in the documentation. I've create a user (adduser) I've create a host (addhost), running discovery and poller without error. But, when I try to connect I've no login page, only the logo Observium and in the top right " Widescreen | Not logged in!" Any idea ? Alert emails not working

Hello List, I used to get emails of alerts (including BGP, temperature) but not anymore. I keep on doing SVN updates every week. I noticed that the emails were not coming after many updates. I've not changed any settings. I wonder what is wrong. I have set SNMP contact as 'netadmin' in all my routers. Observium was sending emails to this alias. Anybody knows how to fix this? Installation help with menu items

Hi - I have a new installation of observium running on apache on gentoo. When I go to the main page (http://myserver/observium/html/) it looks similar to the demo and I see the data. But, when I click on the menu items, they don't work. For example, if I click on Locations I get The requested URL /index.php/locations// was not found on this server. Any ideas as to what I've configured incorrectly? Thanks Dave

Cisco 2900 Router VRF display Issue

Hi, I have situation where Observium shows VRF information for all of my 2800 series routers but not my 2900 series router. Also the config tab is not showing up either from the rancid integration, but it does for all of my 2800 series routers. I have removed and added the router back but that did not seem to change anything. All of other information appears to be displaying and rancid is pulling the configuration without any issues. Has anyone run into this? The 2900 is running IOS ver. 15.0(1)M3. Tim

Recent changes on the billing pages - CPU hogging of poll-billing.php

Hi, I would like to start with that the recent changes look really good on the billing pages. Excellent job, I like it. Over the last few weeks minor changes have been done to these pages and I was wondering if anything was also done to the file: /opt/observium/poll-billing.php or the tables used for it. That process currently takes about 40 minutes on our environment, while I hoped that upgrading to an Equillogic with 16 SAS drives with RAID10 for more IOPS would fix the issue, while it did improve a bit, the result is the similar. Could it be that there are indices missing? Or is there something else which could be done that might improve this? I can create some indices myself to see if things improve in a shadow environment, but I'm not sure if that would break things with future SVN update's if done in production ? For example if you type "CoreRouter" it will end up showing as "corerouter". Is it possible to make the names with uppercase? I don't think I'm being as retarded with this one. Sorry if I am. nfsen running for a single firewall cluster at the moment, cfw.sv.domain.com. I can view nfsen's interface and see all of the data etc, so I know my netflow is working properly and nfsen can run reports on it etc. I get cannot generate graph when going to the nfsen tab directly via url options, it does not show up in tabs list otherwise. Is there something major here I'm doing wrong? IE smokeping I pointed to png files instead of RRD files :). I've tried temporary universal read write etc for testing purposes, didn't help. Ignoring down / notconnected ports

Hi - I have not been able to find this, we started trying/using Observium for few weeks. We intend to use it mostly to compliment our current monitoring software. We are impressed with it, but the main intention is graphing and helping us troubleshooting. We are monitoring large 6500 switches and we have a number of ports that we intentionally keep in the cisco notconnected state. The front page of Observium is then riddled with the "Port Down" messages. Can this be suppressed / ignored ? I hope I'm not asking a question that has been answered many times, but google fails me here - and I'm still getting around understanding how Observium functions. Smokeping integration

Hi, I have a machine named techops01, I have a directory /opt/smokeping/ that is running smokeping. cache/ has the png files etc. I've tried pointing to both, readding the host, rediscovering, nothing. Additionally, smokeping does not allow "." in the host name. I saw somebody had a patch for observium to add conversion of '_' to '.' , did this ever make it into code? I haven't seen a flag ### smokeping testing $config['smokeping']['dir'] = "/opt/smokeping/cache/"; also tried ### smokeping testing $config['smokeping']['dir'] = "/opt/smokeping/"; Its not a permissions issue, its 777 now for testing purposes. Its broken in a few ways, is this supposed to work or is this old stuff thats stuck around? New install only shows website header.

I just did my first install of observium after a very convicing demo by a friend. However the website only loads the header (or parts of it). blank graphs

So I followed the ubuntu svn installation tutorial and managed to get observium to run... (commenting the function gethostbyname) But anyway... So far I have been able to log in to the web app and... the app has recorded all the info from the device I want to monitor... but somehow all the graphs are blank with nan values The device in question right now is in idle mode, just receiving packets from network equipment and sometimes ICMP (ping) packets. So maybe I'm doing this wrong and it needs to be in active mode receiving all kinds of requests.... but even the memory and processes graphs are blank... What could it be? Cron? I'm missing some configuration? Do I need to follow more of your documents? Hello I'm having a little problem with the tutorial. I'm following this tut: http://www.observium.org/wiki/Ubuntu_SVN_Installation because both of my machine have ubuntu installed So I have two servers, server A is IPv6 only (i have installed Observium here, ubuntu 12.04) server B is IPv6/IPv4 (i want to monitor this machine, ubuntu 10.04) both machines are in a ipv6 network with cisco equipment (routers/switches) I configured the snmp client in server B, following this tutorial: http://www.observium.org/wiki/NetSNMPd_Client_Configuration And currently I'm stuck on this step, from the installation tutorial Add a first device to monitor: ./addhost.php <hostname> <community> v2c I get a message like this "coud not resolve hostname" Having said that, I have full connectivity between the machines and I configured a hostname in /etc/hosts, so I run this command (ubuntuservers is the community name i configured in server B) ./addhost.php server6 ubuntuservers v2c And I get the error message. I only modified these variables in config.php $config['db_user'] = "observium"; $config['db_pass'] = "mypass"; (a random password) $config['nets'][] = "2001:23::24/96"; What am I doing wrong, can you help me? Force Device Type Change?

Hi all, Is there a way to force a device to be treated as a different kind of device when it is polled? I've tried changing the "Type" under "Device Settings" but this does not have the desired effect. Reason for asking, we have several UPS systems which are successfully being polled by Observium (all are Reillo units, running NetMan Plus cards). We also have another system which is running a CS121 card (in a PW9000 DPA-250kVA unit). This system is polled by our Cacti server in exactly the same way as the Riello units and we get the same data from all of them. However, Observium will not see this UPS as a UPS, just a "Generic Device" and as such will not poll it for RFC1628 OIDs. Any ideas on a fix or 'tweak' to make it think it's a UPS and poll it? SLA graphs showing as broken icons

Hi, I was wondering if SLA graphing was working, or if it is simply my installation that's borked. I'm on build 3323 and I have SLAs enabled in my config file, and I can see the SLA-XX.rrd files in my RRD directory, but the SLA tab in the GUI displays broken links. I've been testing Observium for the last few days and have over 10,000 ports in it with integration of rancid and smokeping. So far it's working fine, apart from my SLA issue. Regards, Michael

For instance, I have the following filesystem on a pool: [me@host ~]$ zfs list NAME USED AVAIL REFER MOUNTPOINT storage 5.14T 208G 64.3K /storage ... storage/temp 2.59T 208G 2.59T /storage/temp ... [me@host ~]$ But observium detects this as 599GB / 807GB Any idea what might be going on?

LDAP Authentication

I am having difficulty getting my LDAP configuration working, I have set the authentication type to ldap, and then set the following. #LDAP Config Section. $config['auth_ldap_version'] = 3; # v2 or v3 $config['auth_ldap_server'] = "dc1.test.com"; $config['auth_ldap_port'] = 389; $config['auth_ldap_starttls'] = false; $config['auth_ldap_prefix'] = "uid="; $config['auth_ldap_suffix'] = ",dc=test,dc=com"; $config['auth_ldap_group'] = ""; $config['auth_ldap_groupbase'] = "cn=users,dc=test,dc=com"; $config['auth_ldap_groups']['domain admins']['level'] = 10; $config['auth_ldap_groups']['pfy']['level'] = 7; $config['auth_ldap_groups']['domain users']['level'] = 1; I keep getting a an authentication failed, indicating a user/password mismatch. I am not sure how to make the configuration any more basic than this. The LDAP directory is Active Directory in Windows 2008 R2 Native mode. Thank you, Tim

Brocade ifAlias

Hi All, Recently installed Observium today and very impressed so far, I have been busily migrating a boot load of stuff out of the not so free anymore Opsview into Observium all day. For my Cisco kit it's working great, unfortunately I'm hitting a few road blocks with my shiny new Brocade DC-6910 switches. I made a change to a poller include file to detect ironware / foundry switches and added the BR6910 string, what I still can't figure out is the ifAlias on the Brocades, it just comes back as 'Ethernet Port 3 on Unit 1' every time regardless of what the physical interface description is configured to. Anyone got any ideas on how to get around this one? Thanks -Dan

Hello, I have an observium installation which was installed by tar.gz. I updated today via svn and afterwards the interface doesn't when I click anywhere... The Overview page is always displayed... Any idea what might be wrong?

Apache SNMP script changes

Hi, As previously requested on the list, here's a heads up for potential breakage, revision 3315 removes support for apache stats through the snmpd extend script. Please switch to the agent script, you can find it in /opt/observium/scripts/agent-local/apache. Thanks, Tom
