Include Server Port Type?

The wiki[1] lists Server as a valid port type. The parser does all the work so that http://observium.ndcls.local/iftype/type=server/ works. All that is needed is a config option and a menu item. I have a patch that add these two things. However, codekiller brought up a valid point that all you'd have to do is search for server. http://observium.ndcls.local/ports/ifAlias=server/format=list_basic/ This works just as well, for me. Therefore I ask, do we want a menu link for the server port type? Some device traffic graphs are not working anymore

Hi, I noticed that after upgrading to the latest version of Observium, (0.11.10.2674); traffic graphs do not work anymore on some device; see screenshot below. Code to Delete interfaces that match bad_if?

So I spent a lot of time digging through the code to figure out how bad_if works. I wanted to remove the stacking "ports" there were showing up. Added this code to my config: $config['bad_if'][] = "stack"; However the ports weren't getting removed. Upon further investigation I found that the current code only prevents the addition of a match. However, if the port is already in the database nothing is done. Is this the desired behaviour or should ports that match be removed from the database? ~pyther

CollectD Integration - Graphing

CDP Neighbours

Hi, I have just noticed that the Neighbours option has disappeared under the Ports Tab for some of the devices we monitor via Observium; this looks to have happened after upgrading to version 0.11.10.2654. Is it something to do with my upgrade or is there something broken. The issue is that some do display the Neighbours Option on the same version so I am at odds about what is wrong. Dell OMSA

I am curious what attributes of Dell's OMSA snmpd integration are polled by Observium? Pre OMSA install the host was identified as Generic, post OMSA install/SNMP SMUX integration it polls the model correctly but nothing else. Hardware is a PowerEdge 1950 III. Some quick googling suggests that the OIDs for PE 1950, 2650, 2950, etc are not the same - although temp, voltage, fan, etc should be available, and is via the OMSA interface. Thought I would reach out to any fellow Dell + Observium users. Thanks, John

95th Billing is inaccurate

Hi We are having some more trouble with 95th billing. It seems that even on clients who are using very little (or nothing at all as they aren't using the ports yet) are showing an over usage on their 95th. Is there an easy way to correct this? Cisco ASA Overview graph not working

Hi, I upgraded to the latest version of Observium (0.11.9.2550) and now the Cisco ASA traffic graph in the overview tab is showing "Error Drawing Graph". However when I hover the mouse over the graph area I can see the correct graphs in the pop-up window. Traffic graph error

Folks, Observium newbie here. I have it set up and running and thus far all is well other than port traffic graphs. When one tries to view these the following error is produced: XML Parsing Error: XML or text declaration not at start of entity Location: http://observium.foo.bar/graph-realtime.php?type=bits&id=3&interval=2 Line Number 2, Column 1:<?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?> Observium revision is 2547 (current as of this writing). Hi Adam, We have a need for the capability to monitor and graph the vty sessions on our Cisco gear since we have services that rely on the vty lines availability in order to work. I have digged and searched the Cisco website; link below; for info and it looks to be possible to do something like this using the OLD-CISCO-TS-MIB. I would like to have this graphed under the device Netstat tab, probably under the current UDP Statistics graph. I am specifically wanting to monitor the a number of active virtual-terminal at any one time. I am willing to program it into Observium if I can be shown how. VRF page broken

Hi, I just upgraded to version 0.11.9.2499 and noticed that when you click on the VRF icon under a Routing Tab; an empty overview screen is displayed, see below. Memory,CPU and Device Traffic broken

Hi, Clicking the Memory, CPU and Device Traffic graphs under the device overview page takes one to the Recent Eventlog Entries. Adam I also have an issue now with the Cisco 7606 router that we monitor using the version 0.11.9.2499. The memory pools display 0% even though I get the correct values upon clicking the sub-items monitored. Port Stack not working on newer versions

Hi, I running two versions of Observium; older one being 0.11.7.2395 and the latest being 0.11.9.2453. On the latest version under device ports I cannot see the ports that the device I am viewing connects to, like I did in the older version, see below. I suspect it has something to do with port stack feature that's gone missing. New version; Old version; The port stack module is enabled on both versions. netstat doesn't detected on some devices

Hi, I've just noticed some device doesn't have subcategory netstat, while these devices clearly do support TCP,UDP,ICMP,SNMP mibs to gather that information. I've tried to snmpwalk them and it return values correctly.

Graphs showing no data and NaN

I recently installed Observium to monitor some voip switches. Previously I have had a different installation monitoring a ton of network gear, so I'm not unfamiliar with the intall process. This new installation appears to be gathering data, but all my graphs are just axis and legends and all the number are "NaN". Ubuntu 8.04 32 bit php5 5.2.4 myslq 5.0 rrdtool 1.4.3 snmp 5.4.1 Which is all the same as other the working system. Debugging : poller.php appears to be running fine and collecting data : Polled in 5.111 seconds UPDATED! MySQL: Cell[0/0s] Row[114/0.01s] Rows[17/0s] Column[0/0s] Update[116/0.57s] Insert[1/0s] Delete[0/0s] And the /device/#/ports/details/ page for my switch shows bandwidth numbers for each port, but completely blank mini graphs, and when I mouseover the mini-graph, it show graphs without any data, just axis, legend, and "NaN" for each value. Apache error logs don't show anything failing. Adding "&debug=1" to any of the graph.php pages, generates the same graphs without any data. I've checked file/path permissions, and they appear identical between boxes. Assuming user error, I've dropped the database and recreated it, along with a complete fresh install. Neither helped. I'm rather stumped, anyone have any ideas of what to look at next? Jeff

replacing device filling eventlog

BTW, thanks for this great app. Its better than most of the commercial options i have even found. 1) How do I disable ipv6 reporting? Its not being used at all within my infrastructure. There is actually probably a lot of stuff that could be disabled, such as cisco and wireless, etc. I dont have either of those. Are filters used for this? 2) I see the config options for syslog, but then it says its not being used. So right now nothing is done with syslog at all? Im assuming there are plans for observium to become a syslog server then? Well, at least parse logs from one. 3) I do have multiple xen servers, what exactly does enabling the Virtualization options do and where would that data be available? 4) Since i have xen nodes, any recommendations for getting resource information to actual show for the entire xen host instead of just the dom0? 5) Service monitoring at this point is imply just up/down. Right? Is there that much on how quickly alerts are sent out? Can it wait to see it it fails for a second check before reported, etc? Wanting to reduce false positives. Note, i havent really done anything with alerts with observium, just reading over the docs. BTW, im using Observium 0.11.6.2390. Thanks for your time! - Mark

collectd dns graphs ... short memory

The dns and powerdns plugins provide only the same 2 hour snapshot in all four graphs. Does anyone know why that is? Some other collectd tabs, such as cpu, do provide broader time ranges in the four graphs.

Rancid is collecting my device configuration - Enable rancid integration setting in observium: ### rancid integration $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/mpbn/configs/"; $config['rancid_configs'][] = "/var/lib/rancid/gprs/configs/"; $config['rancid_ignorecomments'] = 0; # Ignore lines starting with # - Allow observium user to read rancid config (using observium user i can see the configuration collected by rancid) - I use the same hostname defined in my /etc/hosts for both observium and rancid But I couldn’t see any menu/link showed in Observium web page related to Rancid configuration. Inventory for Juniper

Hello All, after an IP-Address change of an Cisco IOS Device the Processor, Memory, Map, etc. Tabs are not shown anymore. The same IOS Version (Cisco IOS 12.4(25e) (ADVSECURITYK9)) is running on other routers (Cisco 1841 with same HW Config) and there these Tabs where shown. What can I do to make the Tabs visible again? disable up/down notification

I would like to disable notification when host host goes down. I didn't find option for that, only way is disable notifications altogether, but I still would like to receive notification about bgp flaps/interface errors/etc for example. Is this option not implement yet?

Hi, Thank you very much on your hardwork on Observium. This week was my first installation. The process was smooth but on setup on apache rewrite mod. It is okay now. And I'm very happy that my Juniper got a lot of stuff monitored. I have some questions in my first week experience: 1. My Juniper router has many vrf routing instace with OSPF but it is not shown in the Routing-OSPF Device page. Any idea where can i start troubleshooting? 2. My Juniper Netscreen ISG 2000 and Extreme Black Diamond 8xxx doesn't have fans and temperature monitored. I tried to learn the way temperature in Juniper router monitored. Seems i can do on my own for Netscreen and Extreme. But when i did snmpwalk for the entire snmp table i didn't get temperature information on Netscreen and Extreme Switch. Any hints? I have see that some devices (Cisco) having double Memory Pool graphs. It looks like this one overview page. Processor I/O 3825 chassis - Processor 3825 chassis - I/O Is there way to remove these, w/o deleting stat data of device or this is just bug?

VRF Tab empty after upgrading to Observium 0.11.5.2295
