Device Graphs are not drawing

Hello I am an absolute beginner to Observium and Linux. I installed Observium in my environment as Syslog and SNMP server. I added some Cisco Catalyst 9500 series, 9200 and Nexus N3k Series switches. After I added those devices, In some devices are not drawing Graphs (like System, Traffic statistics etc). What is the issue for this and How I fix this? I have another question. I need to add more Hard disk space to my ubuntu VM that I installed in Observium. But there is some issue to expand my root disk. I installed Observium also in my Root partition. Because of this I have planned to create an another partition using LVM and move Observium to that partition. Is this possible? If so, How I do that and How can I see the mount point in Observium? Cisco Wifi APs registered twice

Hi We had a power mishap which resulted in the Cisco wifi controller rebooting. After that all the AP's got registered twice in observium. Deleting the controller and re-adding it didn't clear up the issue. I manually deleted all entries from the wifi_aps table and got the thing working correct. It's not a big issue, but it should be an easy change to only add unique APs, based on name or MAC, to the database. Graphs keep reset randomly and losing previous history

Error drawing graph (can not parse an empty rpn expression)

I just upgraded from 19.8 to 20.9 CE. In both I've been having the same problem: Everything works as expected, except two devices (of 19) produce a big pink box instead of a chart for the "Ports" widget on the Overview page for the devices. The chart is titled "Error Drawing Graph". Other similar devices (same OS version, etc.) all show a normal-looking chart in the same place. The devices are "SunOS <hostname> 5.11 11.4.25.75.3 sun4v". Most other devices of the same version work, just not two of them. When I click on the chart, I get the Ports page and a bigger version of the same chart. Hi, You cant just add extra data to an RRD, they have a fixed format. Youd also need to add code to graph and display the data. Its a fair bit more complicated than this, especially for WMI. Adam. Question about use and support

Greetings, I am new to this and Observium. We have a paid version and I have some questions about support and upgrading. Question 1, how do I get support? Support question, when I try to add a device, I get an error saying it can't ping the device. I have logged into the terminal of observium and can ping the device Support question, I recently received an email about a new version, I tried to run the update, but it fails saying it can't find the root folder or something like that. Syslog rule: No logging alert entries found

Hi We would like to generate an alert on an Aruba switch logging stuff like "ST1-CMDR: port 1/20-Excessive CRC/alignment errors. See help." So I created a syslog rule that triggered on that expression, but I get "No logging alert entries found!". Then I changed the pattern to just /CRC/ and it still doesn't find anything. How to create Alert Checker for a specific port?

But when I check on the next time, that graph shows again. What caused it and how to solve it ? Syslog problem with Arista and Nexus device

Hello Team, I am running latest Observium version, Syslog is configured on switch to send logs to observium server. They send logs to observium (verified with capture on server interface) but observium doesn’t show it in syslog tab it says- No syslog entries found! This device does not have any syslog entries. Check that the syslog daemon and Observium configuration options are set correctly, that this device is configured to send syslog to Observium and that there are no firewalls blocking the messages. Hello, I am trying to configure Active Directory authentication on my Observium CE v20.9.10731 server using this page as a guide -> https://docs.observium.org/authentication/#active-directory I am passed the point where my username and password are authenticated. It is the group config I am confused about. I have an Active Directory group "eng-admins" that I want to give administrative privileges to, of which my login (bbianchi) is a member. And I have an Active Directory group "eng-team" that I want to give generic non-admin privileges. My domain is hq.viviport.com. Then I went to the device page and entered "300" as SNMP timeout, hit save and got told "Device SNMP configuration update is not required". What's next? RRD max value

Hi all, I would like to ask you for help in order to resolve an issue with RRD. I do have port-channel with max speed of 400Gbit/s (correctly detected by Observium), however when traffic will reach 100G it will not be shown. I believe there is max limit on that RRD, as some other port-channels works good. Of course I don't want to loose history if possible. Other monitoring systems using same MIBs are working as expected. Sensor blues

Hi I'm having trouble with sensors on SFPs in Aruba switches. Looking at the switch, I get this: Transceiver in 3/49 Interface Index : 155 Type : SFP+LR Model : J9151A Connector Type : LC Wavelength : 1310nm Transfer Distance : 10.0km (9um), Diagnostic Support : DOM Serial Number : AX07SL0130407 Status Temperature : 26.289C Voltage : 3.3408V Tx Bias : 41.728mA Tx Power : 0.6339mW, -1.980dBm Rx Power : 0.4225mW, -3.742dBm But looking in Observium, I get this: [cid:image002.png@01D697E4.402E6B90] There's no data for RX power (which is the most interesting) and the data for TX power is wrong. I think this is an OEM SFP (the serial number looks weird), but if the switch can see the data, shouldn't Observium be able to pull it too? Temperature, voltage and current graphs are correct. ... and just now, when I clicked around, the correct values are now showing for TX and RX power in the graphs. What's going on? Observium deleting switch entries instead of alerting

Hello, I ran into a weird situation today that I’m unsure of how to proceed with. Due to a power failure we lost power to 3 of 4 switches in a Cisco 9300 Stack. At 10:57am yesterday in the event log of this switch I can see the OperStatus of the Stack Ports go down. I have an alert configured against the status of “Switch Stack Failure” does not equal OK. However this alert did not go off at the time of the outage, it has for other switch stacks though. Then at 5am this morning the logs of the device indicate it went through and essentially removed switches 2-4 of this stack. We are currently running 20.7.10549. I know we need to update, but our linux team has not gotten around to it. Is there anyway to look into this? Hi, Yes, this is “wrong” but I have an internal server which happens to have IPv6 and no DNS. SNMP - IPSEC VPN under VRF

Mikrotik Custom OID issue

Hello All, I’ve run into a device specific issue with Mikrotik and am looking for some advice. I want to track a few MIB-defined variables like mtxrWlRtabStrength (signal strength, source https://mibs.observium.org/mib/MIKROTIK-MIB) and produce graphs. I added a custom OID for this but the snmpget command is failing. In theory, if I want to get data on OID .1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.2.1.3 I should be able to get it, but unfortunately snmpget in the poller errors out. It appears that for Mikrotik we need to attach the rest of the, and this is the problem, device-specific address to the OID. e.g. 1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.2.1.3 (and .0,.1) does not work but .1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.2.1.3.100.209.84.175.14.243.1 does. It will only get the data from that one device, not from any others. The easy way for me test this is to run the poller command: snmpget -t '10' -v1 -c xxx -Pud -OUQnv 'udp':'radio-leehill.nv0n.qth':'161’ 1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.1.2.1.3 Anyway, I’m wondering if there is a way in observium that I haven’t discovered yet that will get me graphs on various wireless activities from the registration table. The use case is to monitor things like signal strength and signal to noise to know when a wireless link is below a threshold. High winds up here tend to bend and destroy dishes even with a stiff-arm attached. Thanks, Joey ps. Web interface blank screen after last Update

Hi, We have updated our Observium platform to the latest version CE 19.8 and we are facing the following issue. After finishing the upgrade using the instructions on the website we were able to access the web interface just once. When we logged in the first time after the upgrade we received a message that the php version also must be updated. After that we were unable to logon to the web interface (after login we see a blank screen) and we receive the following error in the apache error log: [Wed Sep 16 12:33:07 2020] [error] [client PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function password_hash() in /opt/observium/html/includes/authentication/mysql.inc.php on line 101, Is it possible to backup the configuration and update php version and use Observium installation again? If yes is there any guide how to perform the update? We have observium installed on a Debian 7 machine. The new release can be installed using the upgrade instructions in our documentation: https://docs.observium.org/updating/#upgrade-to-latest-major-release Please make sure you meet these absolute minimum requirements beforehand: MySQL 5.6.5 / MariaDB 10.0 PHP 5.6.26 Though we would recommend a PHP version above 7.1 and rrdtool versions above 1.7. CheckPoint concurrent connections

IOS XR device not recognized

Hi all, I would like to ask for a hint or information I'm missing in oder to successfully monitor Cisco ASR9K (ASR9901-RP) running Cisco IOS XR Software, Version 7.0.1. I'm getting "Generic device" not Cisco device and for unknown reason I'm getting this LOG messages SNMP works just fine, as other graphs or values are being collected successfully. There is no error in observium.log and polling graphs looks good too. On top of that, every full discovery cycle (every 12 hours) we are getting full set of alarms from this device. Any idea please? Changing SMTP Port

Hello, I am using SMTP relay with sendmail and have change it to use port 26. Observiium has stopped alerting since I done this. 1) How can I get observium to use port 26 for alerts. 2) How can I trigger an email alert to test.
